The purpose of this study is to examine the changing process through the experiences as a protagonist in psychodramas and to propose a substantial theory. In-depth interviews were conducted with ten adult participants who participated in psychodramas as protagonist more than three times. Collected data were analyzed with a grounded theory approach. One hundred twenty three concepts, forty subcategories, and fourteen categories were deducted. The result of the study showed that the central phenomenon is the actualizing the self by unfolding body. The causal conditions were the protagonists’ spontaneous participation, self-disclosure, trust toward the group and directors. The contextual conditions were the personal contact and group cohesion. Action insight, facilitating action, various techniques and enaction were found for the interaction strategies. The here and now flow, playing, and catharsis were deducted for the mediation conditions. As a result, the growth and changing were deducted. The implication of this study is to suggest the treatment and intervention of psychodrama by deducting the therapeutic factors of psychodramas’ protagonists from their experiences and presenting the paradigm model of factor interaction. Finally, a study on the unsuccessful experiences of the protagonists, directors and groups is suggested for the future research.

본 연구의 목적은 주인공의 사이코드라마 경험 과정이 어떠한지를 탐색하고 이론적 틀을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 사이코드라마의 주인공 경험이 3회 이상인 일반 성인 10명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구방법으로 근거이론 방법을 적용하여 자료를 분석하였고 123개의 개념과 40개의 하위범주, 14개의 범주가 도출되었다. 패러다임 분석 결과, 중심현상은 몸으로 펼쳐 나를 실현함이 도출되었고 인과적 조건으로는 주인공의 자발적 참여, 자기노출, 집단을 믿음, 디렉터를 믿음, 맥락적 조건으로는 디렉터와 인격적 만남, 집단응집력이 나타났다. 작용/상호작용 전략으로는 행위통찰, 워밍업의 촉진작용, 다양한 기법 적용과 실연, 중재적 조건으로는 지금-여기 몰입, 놀이, 정화가 도출되었고, 결과로는 성장과 변화가 생김이 나타났다. 본 연구는 사이코드라마의 치료 요인을 주인공의 경험에서 도출하고 요인별 상호작용을 패러다임 모형으로 제시하여 상담 장면에서 사이코드라마의 치료와 개입에 중요한 시사점을 주었다는데 의의가 있다. 후속연구로 참여 경험이 성공적이지 않았던 주인공과 디렉터 및 집단의 경험에 대한 연구를 제안하였다.
