This study mainly discusses the SciArt which converges art and science as well as its resulting phenomenon. In the course of art evolution, science has been a faithful company and one of the important elements for nurturing the art practices. The new media invented by scientists have been introduced to the radical avant-garde artworks and recently to the various artworks based on computer technology and applied science. When we face the science information in the art world, we attempt to perceive it, not to verify the law of cause and effect because we accept it as artwork. Through the experience, we are able to go through the whole experience that Snow has mentioned. On the forefront of the experimental artworks, SciArt, as a interface between art and science, has produced the images different from the traditional ones as well as a spectator’s perception which interacts with them and the contemporary discourses that have been originated from them. Therefore I attempt to conclude the significance of SciArt is to bring the spectators to the phrase they have never considered, to broaden the realm of art and to provide several directions of contemplation regarding it. The contemplation will be completed by the converged thought which is caused by the whole experience. With these transitions, the art will prepare the new evolution and the spectators will find the new, proper, and suitable language to read it.

본 연구는 총체적 경험을 위해 과학과 예술이 융합하는 사이아트(SicArt)를 연구하고 이것으로 야기되는 효과를 검토한다. 이 총체적 경험은 문화의 두 거대한 원동력인 과학과 예술을 총괄적으로 바라볼 수 있 는 작품을 감상하는 데서 얻을 수 있는 결과이다. 르네상스이전, 예술과 과학은 하나였다. 과학은 자연 철학으로 불리었고, 철학자들은 종교와 진리에 대해 사색하는 것과 마찬가지로 예술과 과학을 고찰했다 . 본 연구에서 중점적으로 살펴보는 사이아트의 실행은 과학이 예술의 영역으로 흡수되어 작품화되는 예 를 보여준다. 본고는 순수과학과 예술의 적극적인 협업으로, 사이아트의 실행이 지식과 감성을 융합하 고 이것이 하나의 영역만을 지향하지 않고 총체적인 경험을 야기하는 것을 밝힌다. 예술이 예술가의 직 관에 주로 의존하는 것이라면 과학은 이것을 경험하도록 실행하는 수단을 제공한다. 하나의 과학적 자료가 예술계를 통해 타자에게 ‘전시’될 때 이것이 예술화되고, 그것이 유용성의 문제에 만 머무는 것이 아니라 삶을 사유하고 돌아보도록 하는 예술적 경험으로 연결된다. 본 연구는 이 경험이 예술과 과학의 경계면에서 형성되며 시각적 경험에서 출발하여 총체적 경험을 도출하는 바를 검토하고 그 효과로 양자의 더 나아간 발전된 현상을 논의한다.
