The purpose of this study was to examine the HYO consciousness and adjustment to military life.It's specifically meant to analyze the relationship between the HYO consciousness and adjustment to military life. in an effort to raise awareness of the necessity of inspiring solders with HYO consciousness, to provide information on the mental health and adjustment to military life of the younger generation, and to awaken a sense of loyalty and HYO consciousness. The subjects in this study were 210 army soldiers. In order to make an experimental study, whether there would be any differences among the soldiers in HYO consciousness and military adjustment was analyzed, and correlation analysis was conducted. In addition, the influence of the two variables was analyzed as well. As a result of analyzing any possible differences in HYO consciousness and military adjustment according to rank, the sergeant group had a better HYO consciousness than the private group. When the correlation of the two variables was analyzed, the two were correlated with each other in most part. Concerning analysis of influence, the soldiers whose HYO consciousness related to obedience were better and whose post-death HYO consciousness were better were better at military adjustment. The findings of the study are expected to be of great use for proving the necessity of inspiring soldiers of the younger generation with HYO consciousness as a way to improve their mental health and military adjustment.

본 연구는 병사들의 효의식과 군생활적응에 관한 연구이다. 효의식과 병사들의 군생활적응의 관계를 분석함 으로써 효의식 고취의 필요성과 신세대 자녀들의 정신건강과 군생활적응을 위하여 필요한 기초자료를 제공하 고 ‘충효’사상을 다시 일깨우고자 하는데 연구의 목적을 두고 있다. 연구의 대상은 육군 병사 총 210명이며 실증적 연구를 위해 병사들의 효의식과 군생활 적응의 차이분석과 상 관관계 분석 및 영향력분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 효의식과 군생활적응의 계급별 차이분석에서 하위요인별로 병장 집단이 일병 집단보다 효의식이 높 았다. 두 변인간 상관분석에서는 대부분이 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 영향력분석에서는 순종의 효의 식과 사후의 효의식이 높을수록 군생활적응을 잘하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 신성한 의무를 수 행하고 있는 신세대 병사들의 정신건강과 군생활적응을 위한 효의식 고취의 필요성을 일깨워 주는 중요한 자 료로 기대되는 바이다.
