The goal of this study is to form basic data which will assist the practice of case management carried out by the long-term care facilities managed by churches to acquire enough professionalism through understanding how the service users or elderlies and service providers or pastors recognize case management. For this, internet survey was done with the pastors and qualitative case research through person- to-person in-depth interview was done with the elderlies. The data was collected from July 7th up to July 14th, 2013, for a week. Through this study, the recognition of the elderlies who receive case management service run by the church can be grouped into four major topics: 'case management as an activity that satisfies their needs', 'professional method of welfare for the elderly practice', 'something that solves the needs of informal network', and 'something that provides information about diverse leisure activities and education programs for the elderly'. However, the service satisfaction of provided case management appeared generally low, but the needs for informal network seemed to be solved through long-term care facilities managed by the church. In case of pastors, positive responses were shown regarding the necessity and value of case management, however, a portion of pastors recognized the case management as a burdensome work which goes beyond the original duties of long-term care facility or something that needs a lot of paper work. Moreover, lack of ability of the pastors who can carry out professional case management, the absence of standardized method and guide for case management and the needs for case management method and technique from christian and spiritual perspective were also revealed through the study. Based on above results strategies for improving case management practice carried out by the long-term care facility managed by churches are suggested.

본 연구의 목적은 교회가 운영하는 장기요양기관에서 수행되는 사례관리가 서 비스 대상 노인과 종사자인 목사들에게 어떻게 인식되고 있는지를 파악함으로 써 교회가 운영하는 장기요양기관의 사례관리가 전문성을 충분히 확보한 실천 개입이 되게끔 도울 수 있는 기초자료를 형성하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 연구대 상을 목회자들과 서비스이용자인 노인들로 구분하여 목회자들에게는 인터넷 설문을, 노인들에게는 일대일 심층면접을 통한 질적사례조사를 실시하였다. 자 료수집은 2013년 7월 7일부터 7월 14일까지 일주일간 진행되었다. 본 연구를 통해 교회가 운영하는 사례관리 서비스를 제공받는 대상 노인이 인식하고 있는 사례관리에 대한 이해는 ‘사례관리는 필요로 하는 것들을 채워 주는 활동’, ‘노인을 대상으로 하는 전문 노인복지실천 방법’, ‘비공식적인 관계 망에 대한 욕구를 해소해 주는 것’, ‘다양한 노년기 여가활동 및 교육 프로그램 에 대한 정보를 제공해 주는 것’으로 총 4개의 대주제로 묶어낼 수 있었다. 그 러나 제공받고 있는 사례관리에 대한 서비스 만족도는 대체로 낮게 나타났다. 하지만 비공식적 관계망에 대한 욕구는 교회가 운영하는 장기요양기관을 통해 서 해소되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 목회자들의 경우, 사례관리의 필요성과 가치에 대해 대체로 긍정적 으로 반응하였으나 일부는 사례관리가 장기요양기관의 본연의 업무를 넘어서 는 부담스러운 일로 인식하거나 행정적 업무를 많이 감당해야 하는 것으로 이해하고 있는 것으로 나타 났다. 또한 사례관리 실천을 전문적으로 수행할 수 있 는 목사의 실천역량의 부족, 사례관리에 대한 표준화된 방식과 지침의 부재 등 도 드러났다. 나아가 기독적･영성적 관점에서 사례관리 방법과 기술에 대한 욕구도 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 교회가 운영하는 장기요양기관의 사례관리 실천 개입이 보다 발전적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 개선방안을 제언하였다.
