This study aims to explore comparability of “Misty Poetry” of China and “Participation Poetry” of Korea which became a point of contention in 1960’s through literature history of “Participation Literature’ and ‘Participation Poetry’ of Korea and China. Korea and China had experienced “democracy’ and “socialism” respectively along with rapid industrialization upon release from the shadow of war after liberation. 4.19 and the Cultural Revolution that occurred in this course were different events but had similar nature in terms of prolongation of dictatorship. Due to this, similar social atmosphere was formed and phenomenon of literature history with nature of “participation literature’ naturally emerged in the history of literature. However, due to different social structure, aspects of their participations have developed into rather different aspects. While it had naturally obtained detailed name of ‘Participation Literature’ in Korean literary world which was one step ahead in accepting foreign trends such as modernism, there was attempt of criticism while carefully replacing the participation literature with ‘Scar Literature’, ‘Reflection Literature’ and ‘Root-Searching Literature’ instead of the term ‘Participation’ in China where it was subject to more strict censorship than Korea within the socialism system. Under the situation where direct criticism was avoided but metaphorically exposed, misty poetry emerged and functioned as ‘Participation Poetry’. There is universality in these in that revolutionary renewal was attempted through poetry while their social foundations were different.
