This study aims to develop science club activity programs and apply them to elementary school students in order to research on effective science club activities. On this research, the activity programs using teaching tools for ecological survey has developed and it has been adopted for elementary school students joining science club activities to see how the programs influence on student's scientific inquiry ability and environmental awareness. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, adopting the program gave positive influence on the students' scientific inquiry ability. Second, the program gave positive influence on environmental awareness. From 6 subordinate survey questions, we could see that they all show significant changes. Third, students were highly interested and concerned in the activity program and they highly valued it. Even though the program did not directly point out necessity and importance of an environment and its preservation, students could have better understanding of an environment while investigating it as a part of the program.

본 연구는 효과적인 과학 동아리 활동을 위한 방안으로 환경 탐구 프로그램을 개발하고 초등학교 학생들에게 적용하여 그 효과를 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 생태 조사 교구를 활용한 활동 프로그램을 개발하고 적용하여 과학동아리 학생들의 과학탐구능력과 환경인식의 변화에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 효과를 검증해보았다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 생태 조사 교구를 활용한 프로그램의 적용은 과학탐구능력의 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 둘째, 생태 조사 교구를 활용한 프로그램은 환경인식의 개선에 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 생태 조사 교구를 활용하여 주변 환경을 탐구하는 활동 프로그램에 대하여 학생들은 매우 많은 관심과 흥미를 갖고 있었으며 매우 긍정적으로 평가하고 있었다. 또한 본 연구에서 적용한 과학 동아리 활동 프로그램은 직접적으로 환경의 중요성과 보존의 필요성을 지도하지 않았음에도 불구하고 환경을 탐구하는 과정을 통해 자연스럽게 학생들의 환경인식 개선에 긍정적 변화를 가져온 것으로 나타났다.
