This research is aimed at inquiry along with the instruction course for students' friendships and guidance of their living in information society after taking a look at students' cyber-based social relations network at a level of its structure and functions. This research did random sampling for the students in Chung-buk and also conducted a questionnaire survey for its research method. The research results are as follows: First, it was found that the research subject showed a comparatively low application on the whole in the category of a structure and functions, which explains that some of the students are using cyberspace social network intensively. Second, it was found that university students come out lowest in a scale in the category of a structure while vocational high school students appeared highest in a scale, which explains the necessity of the guidance of living in cyberspace for vocational high school students. Third, the fact that psychological stability comes out highest in the category of a structure proves that students are getting great benefit psychologically in their school life or their process of growth while communicating with friends in cyberspace. This aspect could paradoxically be contrary evidence that they feel uneasy psychologically unless they have access to the Internet, so there should be a need to cope properly with this by analyzing the cause of this phenomenon. Fourth, in the category of functions, vocational high school students showed an even average in its all category, which explains that students generally, other than only a part of students, have a variety of backgrounds where they are in activity in cyber space. Therefore, it is necessary for educational authorities concerned to take an aggressive measure to cope with this through the analysis of its related contents. Fifth, in the category of functions, college students come out very high in the informative/evaluative category, so there should be a need for mapping out a supporting plan for information service.

이 연구는 충북 지역 학생들을 대상으로 사이버 공간에서 사회관계망에 대한 차이를 알아보고자 한 것이다. 연구방법은 질문지를 통한 조사연구로 이루어졌다. 연구 대상은 초⦁중⦁고⦁대학생 전체 1,872명 이었으며, 2009년 3월초부터 4월초까지 약 1개월에 걸쳐 질문지 조사가 이루어졌다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전체적으로 구조와 기능영역 모두 비교적 낮은 활용도를 보이고 있는 것은 일부 학생들이 집중적으로 활용하고 있다는 것을 말해준다. 둘째, 구조 영역에서 대학생들은 규모가 가장 낮고, 전문계 고등학생들이 가장 높다는 것은 전문계 고등학생들에게 사이버 공간에 대한 생활지도가 필요하다는 것을 말해준다. 셋째, 구조영역에서 심리적 안정성이 가장 높게 나타나고 있는 것은 학생들이 사이버 공간에서 친구들과 교류하면서 학교생활이나 성숙과정에 심리적으로 크게 도움을 받고 있다는 것이다. 넷째, 기능영역에서 전문계 고등학생들은 모든 영역에서 평균이 고르게 나타나고 있다는 것은 일부가 아닌 전반적으로 학생들이 사이버 공간에서 활동하는 다양한 배경이 있다는 것을 알 수 있게 한다. 다섯째, 기능영역에서는 대학생들이 정보적/평가적 영역에서 매우 높게 나타나고 있으므로 이를 위한 지원책을 마련할 필요가 있다. 결론적으로, 사이버 사회관계망의 범주가 크고 적은 것 중 개인에게 어떤 게 더 중요한가에 대해서는 더 많은 연구가 필요하지만 사회관계망이 커지게 됨에 따라 더 많은 시간과 경제적 손실에 따른 반대급부로서 심리적 안정이나 빠른 정보습득과 같이 사이버 공간에서 무엇인가 획득하고 있다는 점을 부인하기는 어렵다. 단지 이러한 사이버 사회관계망의 확대가 교육적으로 긍정적 영향을 줄 것인가 부정적 영향을 줄 것인가에 대해서는 더 많은 연구가 필요하다고 판단된다.
