The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of teaching strategy related to abduction thoughts on 5th grade elementary school students in 'Mirror and Lens' chapter. The subjects was thirty-five students of 5th grade elementary school students. For this study, an questionnaire related to conception of light was developed. Teaching-learning guidance plan which emphasize reasoning the path of light by abduction thoughts are developed, which is threw in the lessons, and found effect on students' understanding about the light. After the lessons, semi-structured interviews were done with the students to discover the explanation processes of the observed phenomena. The results of this study are as follows; First, the teaching-learning strategy influenced on students' abduction thoughts. As a comparison result of students’ conceptions of pre-test and post-test scores, the number of students who responded correct answers was higher in the post-test rather than in the pre-test. The interviews after the lessons discovered that the students understood the process of vision by light, image, the relation between path of light and image by using abduction thoughts.

이 연구의 목적은 ‘거울과 렌즈’ 단원에서 초등학교 5학년 학생들에게 귀추적 사고를 도입한 교수 전략의 효과를 알아보는 것이다. 연구 대상은 초등학교 5학년 35명이었다. 이 연구를 위하여 빛 개념에 관련된 설문을 개발하였다. 빛의 경로를 추론하는 귀추적 사고를 강조한 교수-학습 지도안을 개발하고, 이를 수업에 투입하여 빛에 대한 학생들의 이해에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 수업 후에 학생들과의 반구조화된 면담을 통하여 그들이 관찰 현상을 어떻게 이해하고 설명하는지 알아보았다. 연구 결과, 개발한 교수-학습 전략은 학생들의 빛에 대한 개념 이해에 영향을 미쳤다. 학생들의 사전, 사후 개념검사 결과를 비교하였을 때, 정답률이 증가하였다. 수업 후 면담에서 학생들은 귀추적 사고를 통해 빛에 의해 물체를 보는 과정, 상, 빛의 경로와 상의 관계 등을 더 잘 이해하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
