The purpose of this study was to investigate the impacts of prior learning and family environments on the attitudes toward math of applicants to the Education Center for Gifted Children in Math. For that purpose, the following analyses were carried out; first, differences in the applicants' family environments and degrees of prior learning were analyzed according to whether they got accepted or not. Secondly, relations between their prior learning of math and family environments and their attitudes toward math were analyzed. And finally, the influences of their prior learning and family environments on their attitudes toward math were analyzed. The research findings were as follows; first, what's required to select gifted children in math in a true sense is not testing them with questions of upper grade levels or higher school levels that can be solved by experiences of prior learning but evaluating the processes in which they solve questions. Secondly, it turned out that psychological family environments had more impacts on the applicants' attitudes toward math than experiences of prior learning and physical family environments, which calls for a need to create such psychological family environments as can help the students increase their interest and patience in math. And thirdly, psychological family environments have more effects on their interest than their patience, which suggests a need to explore ways to help increase their patience in math to stick to difficult questions till they're solved based on persistence and tenacity.

본 연구에서는 현재 수학영재교육원 선발대상자의 선행학습 경험과 가정환경이 수학교과에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 첫째, 수학영재교육원 선발대상자의 합격여부에 따른 가정환경의 차이와 선행학습 정도의 차이를 분석하고 둘째, 수학교과의 선행학습 경험 및 가정환경과 수학교과에 대한 태도와의 관계를 분석하며 셋째, 수학영재교육원 선발대상자의 선행학습 경험과 가정환경이 수학교과에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향력을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진정한 의미의 수학영재를 선발하기 위해서는 선행학습의 경험으로 인해 상위 학년이나 학교 수준의 문제를 출제하여 선발하는 것이 아니라, 문제를 어떻게 해결했는지에 대한 과정의 평가를 실시해야 한다. 둘째, 심리적 가정환경이 수학교과의 선행학습 경험과 물리적 가정환경보다 수학교과에 대한 태도에 더 많은 영향을 미치기 때문에, 학생들에게 수학교과에 대한 흥미와 인내심을 높일 수 있는 심리적 가정환경을 조성해 주어야 한다. 셋째, 심리적 가정환경은 수학교과에 대한 인내심보다 수학교과에 대한 흥미에 더 많은 영향을 미치기 때문에, 수학교과 특성상 끈기와 집착성을 가지고 해결하기 어려운 문제를 끝까지 해결하려는 수학교과에 대한 인내심을 높일 수 있는 방안을 모색할 필요성이 있다.
