The purpose of This study was analyzed goals, responsibility and operation types of career education according to working areas of 286 elementary school teachers in Gwangju and Jeonnam(metropolitan, city, eup and myeon) and the degree of their concerns on career education. As a result of this study, it was found that the goals of career education in elementary school were to help elementary school students set their dream and vision and make them set their goals in connection with their learning abilities. Career education operation was achieved through career education based on the integration of subjects and creative activities with experiential and camp activities. It was analyzed that career education of elementary schools by homeroom teachers or teachers who had career education training was preferred. In conclusion, it was suggested that accomplishing elementary school students' dreams through career education should be based on their basic and fundamental learning abilities.

이 연구는 광주전남 초등학교 교사 266명을 대상으로 근무지역(광역시, 시 지역, 읍면지역)과 진로교육 관심정도( 관심 없음, 관심 있음, 매우 관심 많음)에 따른 진로교육의 목표, 진로교육 담당, 진로교육 운영 형태를 분석하였 다. 이 연구 결과에서 볼 수 있듯이 초등학교 진로교육의 목표는 학생들의 꿈과 비젼 설정을 돕고, 꿈과 비젼은 학생 들의 학습력과 연계하여 목표 설정을 돕는 진로교육 활동이 필요함을 알 수 있다. 진로교육 운영은 교과 통합형 진로교육과 창의 체험 활동을 통해서 이루어지고, 체험활동과 캠프활동을 부과할 필요가 있음을 알 수 있다. 초등학교 진로교육 담당은 담임교사와 진로교육 연수를 받은 교사가 담당하는 것을 선호하는 것으로 분석되었다. 결론적으로 초등학교 진로교육을 통해서 꿈을 이루기 위해서는 기초․기본 학습력에 기반 하여야 성장 할 수 있음을 제언한다.
