The psychoanalysis of Jacques Lacan expects that it can cure a neurotic patient by the psychoanalytic counseling. Lacan seeks a cause of the neurosis in the consciousness of the subject stalled the language. In addition, he says that the split subject can be relieved from the neurosis by setting the direction of the thinking with subjectivity. However, I think the psychoanalysis of Lacan has a limitation because the subject who has a symptom suffers from the other symptoms again; the neurosis can never be completely cured. Moreover, I think that the cause of it can be found in the thought of the split subject. The structure of split subject explained by Lacan stresses uselessness of obsession over the signifier, meanwhile it also suggests why the symptom reoccurs again. The split thoughts of subject must be useless if we pay attention to something being lost, but we, human beings as the ‘speaking beings’ can only experience the realm of the “Real” when we face the moment of split. Thus human being have no option but to choose the way of split although he has to endure the alienation: this is the same to the structure of jouissance. In this sense, I think that we can not regard the split subject as a subject who has a symptom which can be overcome by counseling. In addition, I gainsay that the psychoanalysis regards a subject who suffers from a symptom as an object who has to recover his subjectivity. Rather, the subject unconsciously chooses the way of split to experience a certain dimension which is located the outside of language; it is appropriate for us to regard this as a kind of autonomous decision.

자크 라캉(Jacques Lacan)의 정신분석학은 그 고유한 방식의 상담을 통해 신경증 환자들을 치료할 수 있다고 기 대한다. 그는 신경증의 원인을 언어에 고착된 주체의 의식에서 찾는다. 그리고 사유 주체가 사유의 방향을 주체 적으로 정함으로써 신경증으로부터 해방될 수 있다고 주장한다. 그러나 필자는 증상을 가진 주체가 또 다른 차원 의 증상을 다시 경험한다는 점 다시 말해 신경증이 완치될 수 없다는 점에서 라캉의 정신분석 상담이 한계를 가 진다고 본다. 그리고 필자는 그 이유를 주체 사유의 분열에서 찾을 수 있다고 본다. 라캉이 해명한 주체 분열의 구조는 한편에서는 기표에 대한 집착의 무용성을 역설해주지만, 증상의 재발에 대해 설명할 수 있는 부분을 시사 하고 있기도 하다. 상실되고 있는 것에 주목한다면 분열되고 있는 사유는 무용한 것임에 틀림이 없다. 하지만 기 표를 결코 떠날 수 없는 “말하는 존재”로서의 인간에게 있어 실재를 경험할 수 있는 유일한 순간은 분열의 순간 뿐이다. 따라서 인간은 상실을 감내하고서라도 분열을 선택할 수밖에 없는 운명 속에 있는 존재이다. 이는 라캉 이 말하는 주이상스의 구조와 일치하는 것이다. 이러한 차원에서, 필자는 주체의 분열을 상담을 통해 개선될 수 있는 대상으로 간주할 수 없다고 본다. 더불어 분열하는 주체, 곧 증상을 가진 주체를 ‘주체성을 회복해야 할 대 상’으로 간주하는 것에도 반대한다. 오히려 주체는 분열할 수밖에 없는 구조 안에서 언어 바깥에 위치한 모종의 차원을 경험하기 위해서 무의식적으로 분열을 선택한 것이다. 그리고 이것은 주체가 행한 일종의 ‘주체적인 결단 ’으로 보아야 마땅할 것이다.
