The purpose of this study is to find ways to improve writing education for college students by diagnosis of writing skills of them. The subjects of this study are 3,353 cases of writing clinic which were conducted during 1-2 semester in 2012 at the University of D. Clinic was carried in two groups of the writing process and making of the complete manuscript. The characteristics of the writing skills were investigated depending on the distribution of the contents, grade, gender, and major. Based on the real state of writing, a writing instructional strategies was looked for. The writing instructional strategies obtained by analysing results of clinic are as follows; First, focusing on writing practice rather than theory, all fields of writing instructions are necessary. For not one of the genre of writing or writing process but both, practice-centered training is important. Second, continuous guidance is required for all grades of students. There is no difference between writing capability on the grade, and the effect of writing education has been verified, so, continuous guidance is required for all of students. Third, male student-customized training and universal education for all department are necessary. Research for education programs for boys care needs, training for the more common elements is an order of priority than affiliated department-specific customized training.

이 연구의 목적은 대학생의 글쓰기 능력을 진단하여 대학생을 위한 글쓰 기 교육의 개선 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 연구 대상은 D 대학교에서 2012 년 1~2학기에 시행된 3,353건의 글쓰기 클리닉 사례이다. 클리닉은 글쓰 기의 과정과 완성 원고 쓰기의 두 그룹으로 진행되었다. 클리닉의 내용별 분포와 학년, 성, 전공에 따라 대학생들의 글쓰기 능력의 특징을 파악하였다. 대학생의 글쓰기 실상을 토 대로 대학생을 위한 글쓰기 지도의 전략을 모색하였다. 클리닉 결과 분석을 통해 얻은 글쓰기 지도 전략은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이 론보다 쓰기 연습 위주로, 모든 영역에 걸친 교육이 필요하다. 쓰기의 과 정이나 장르별 쓰기 각각이 아닌 이 모두에 대해서 실습 중심의 지도가 중 요하다. 둘째, 전 학년에 걸쳐, 지속적인 지도가 필요하다. 글쓰기 수행 능 력에 학년 간의 차이가 없고, 글쓰기 교육의 효과는 확인되었으므로 모두 를 대상으로 지속적인 지도가 요구된다. 셋째, 남학생 맞춤 교육, 전 계열 에 걸친 보편적인 교육이 필요하다. 남학생을 배려한 교육 프로그램을 연 구 필요가 있고, 계열별 맞춤 교육보다 공통적인 요소에 대한 교육이 우선 이다.
