There are now many consumers using vibrating cosmetic devices which have been pioneering a new category in the market of cosmetics, but there was no way to evaluate the effectiveness of vibrating cosmetic devices quantitatively. Thus, we devised a method to measure and quantify objectively the effectiveness of the vibrating cosmetic devices in this study. We fabricated a simple apparatus for adhesion test, which was conducted upon artificial leather using liquid foundation and face powder. It was shown that the adhesion ratio in liquid foundation was 4 to 5 times greater when vibration was operated on the vibrating foundation device than non-vibration. Coated area on artificial leather by liquid foundation was also broadened over twice using the vibration, which means that spreadability is improved greatly as well. Measurement of brightness on a spot of artificial leather at fixed interval showed that higher brightness in broader coating area was maintained when the vibration was operated. Improvement in adhesion ratio and spreadability when vibration was operated, was greater in liquid type foundation than solid powder form. The detergency when vibrating cleanser device was used, was improved over twice compared to hand washing.
