Generally school police have to perform police activities within theschool. The role of school police maintain order and protect studentswithin the school. In 2013, the Government carried the introduction of schoolpolice forward in Korea. It is the introduction of dedicated police officer. In this context, this paper is the study of Korean school police system. In other words, this treatise discusses the appropriate police school systemin Korea. To achieve the purpose of Such studies, the contents ofresearch is as follows. First, this study describe concepts and models of school police. Andwe discuss the role of police in the schools. Focusing on the AmericanSchool Police, this study examines the case of foreign school police. Second, this paper discuss Korean school police model. Based on thefour variables, this study is to propose a Korean school police system. Four kinds of variables are as follows: Objectives and targets, Installationlocation, School police mission and Personnel Management. Finally, In order to run the school police, Cooperation between theschool authorities and the police officer is very important. This is aprerequisite for the success of school police system. Reliability betweenthe school authorities and the police will be ensured. In order to securethe reliability, the positive image should be formed of the school police. To achieve this, School officials and police should cooperate with each other.

학교경찰(School Police)은 학교폭력에 효과적으로 대처하고, 학생을 보호하기 위해 정규경찰관 등을 학교에 배치 하여, 학교폭력 등 학생의 안전과 보호를 위한 경찰활동을 수행한다. 박근혜 정부가 출범하면서 학교폭력을 예방, 근절을 하기 위해 학교경찰의 한 유형인 학교전담경찰관제의 도입에 대한 논의가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 즉, 정 부와 새누리당은 학교폭력 예방을 위해 전국의 초・중・고교에 학교전담 경찰관을 배치하고, 10개 학교당 1명의전담 경찰관을 배치하기로 한 바 있다. 이러한 상황에서 본 연구는 우리나라에 적합한 학교경찰제도의 모형을 논의하고, 학교경찰의 한국적 모형을 모색 하고자 한다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 먼저, 학교경찰의개념에 대한 구분을 통하여 학교경찰의 의미를 명확히 하고, 학교경찰의 유형을 학교경찰관제, 학교경찰기구, 학교-경찰연계(Police-School Liaison), 학생안전지 킴이(스쿨폴리스), 민간경비업체 활용 모형으로 분류하여, 설명한다. 또 외국의 학교경찰 사례를 개략적으로 살펴 보고, 미국의 학교경찰 제도 사례를 근거로 시사점을 정리해 본다. 둘째, 학교경찰의 한국적모형을 4가지 변수 즉, 학교경찰의 목적과 대상, 설치위치, 학교경찰사무 그리고 인사관리를중심으로 한국적 학교경찰 모형을 모색해 본 다. 학교경찰 제도는 학교폭력 등 학생들의 위법행위를 예방하고, 학생들을 보호하는데 크게기여할 것이다. 그러나 학 교경찰에 대한 학교당국과 학부모들의 불신은 이 제도의 시행 자체를 어렵게 만들 수 있다. 따라서 우리나라 학교 경찰제도 도입에 있어서 가장 중요한 과제는학교경찰에 대한 국민의 신뢰성을 확보하는 것이다.
