Under the bad influence of the worldly customs, the church has long been in secularization and the spread of materialism. This painful reality of the church made essential meaning of church growth and health even faded. This article was designed to present actual alternatives for the church to be healthy growth in a balance of quantity and quality, focusing on the functions of a healthy, growing church on the practical consideration. First of all, the definition of healthy church growth is presented for its correct understanding. For the presentation of this definition, fusion between the original meaning of church growth and the definition of a healthy church is attempted. Next, historical backgrounds of healthy church growth is provided with the change process from church growth to church health. Then, the church's modern trend of healthy church growth is shown from church growth and health to kingdom focused church to missional church, which has been emerged as a famous trend today. Finally, practical considerations are discussed as the primary contents of this study. This section deals with the functional characteristics of a healthy church. In addition, what are practical roles of that features in the church is researched. The features includes dynamic worship service, Christlike discipleship, modeled leadership, small group full of vitality, and evangelism with the practice of love. This researcher expects that the study help proper understanding of the healthy church growth and contribute to revitalize the church in stagnation and recession spiritually and even physically today.

세상의 영향을 받아 교회에도 세속화와 물질만능 주의가 확산된 지 오래다. 이러한 교회의 아픈 현실은 교회 성장과 건강의 본질적인 의미마저 희미하게 만들었다. 이에, 본 논문은 교회의 기능을 중심으로 건강한 교회 성장에 관한 실천적인 고찰을 통해, 교회의 성장과 건강의 수량적 측정에 의한 교회의 본질적 의미의 훼손을 방어하고, 동시에 교회의 양질의 균형 있고 건강한 성장에 대한 작은 대안을 제시하고자 고안되었다. 우선, 건강한 교회 성장의 바른 이해를 돕고자 그 정의가 제시된다. 이러한 정의는 교회 성장의 본래적 의미와 건강한 교회의 정의의 융합이 시도되고 있다. 다음으로, 건강한 교회 성장의 역사적 배경이 나열되고 있다. 그 첫 번째로 교회 성장에서 교회 건강으로의 변천 과정이 제공된다. 그런 다음, 교회 성장과 건강으로 부터 오늘 날 유행처럼 번져 가고 있는 하나님 나라 중심의 교회와 선교적 교회에 이르기까지 건강한 교회 성장의 현대 적인 동향이 보여 진다. 끝으로, 본 논문의 중심 내용으로써, 건강한 교회 성장의 실제적 고찰이 기술된다. 이 부분에서는 건강한 교회 의 기능적인 특징들에는 어떤 것들이 있으며, 교회에서 그 기능들의 실천적 역할들에 대한 연구가 이루어진다 . 이 기능들에는 역동적인 예배, 예수 닮는 제자도, 모본을 보이는 지도력, 생명력 넘치는 소그룹, 그리고 사랑 을 실천하는 복음 전도가 포함된다. 본 연구가 건강한 교회 성장에 관한 바른 이해와 오늘날 정체와 침체를 겪 고 있는 오늘날의 교회 현장에 작게나마 도움이 되기를 소원해 본다.
