The purpose of this article is to examine features, values and literary touches of SinJark(申綽)'s public prose, especially focused on prose works related records of a deceased person' life. SinJark wrote considerable prose works related records of deceased family in his declining years. That is to say, records of deceased people had been written for the sake of holding up the will of his father - arranging his family document files and enhancing the family consciousness. In short, his prose works has embodied an extreme realism along lines that describing abundant anecdotes about corresponding figures, and that listing the name of a thing concretely, and that showing actions and speeches of characters in the specific context and situation. Also, his prose works related dead parents clearly have presented a restrained grief, a solemn mood and so on, through a kind of making scene. Owing to expressing these senses of deep vein, the documentary literature notwithstanding, readers can receive impressive literary touches. Prose works expressed truth of nature and concreteness well, can be regard as vivid materials for microhistory by so showing the actualities and personality of character. It seems to be that SinJark's prose have been performing such a role for historical materials excellently. In addition, SinJark's family had habits of recording miscellaneous things, so they could hand down diaries to their offspring. SinJark's prose works about records of deceased family could be born in such a family traditions and a good surrounding. Lastly, I wish that this article can offer help to highlight SinJark's appearances as a great prose writer as well as a distinguished Chinese Classics scholor.

본고에서는 行狀類 산문을 대상으로 公的 산문의 기록성에 주안하여 申綽 산문의 특징을 살폈다. 행장류 산문 을 대상으로 한 것은 신작의 산문 중 행장류의 비중이 많을 뿐 아니라, 평소 <日乘>을 통해 일상의 면면을 기 록하는 등 신작 개인의 기록 성향이나 기질이 행장류 산문에서 특장을 발휘할 수 있다고 보았기 때문이다. 먼 저 행장류 산문의 기록 경위나 기록 목적, 특징을 살피고 그것들의 史料로서의 가치 및 공적 실용을 뛰어넘는 기록 문학의 감동이란 측면에서 문학적 가치를 논의하였다. 申綽은 대개 老境에 덕행과 명망이 있었던 집안 어른들에 대한 행장을 남겼다. 이는 가문의 공적 문서를 정비 하는 작업의 일환으로 이루어졌는데, 先考의 遺志를 받들어 가문의 전통을 이어가야 한다는 소명감 내지 가문 의식이 저술의 직접적인 원동력이 되었다. 그의 행장류 산문은 풍부한 일화를 보여줄 뿐 아니라, 인물의 생활과 관련된 직접적이고 구체적인 物名을 자 세하게 제시하거나 인물의 행위나 언술을 구체적인 정황과 함께 드러냄으로써 사실성을 확보하고 있다. 때로 는 장면화를 통해 진술 상황을 입체적으로 생생하게 묘사하여 실감을 더하기도 하였다. 특히 先妣와 先考를 대상으로 한 行狀은 비통함과 엄숙함이 구체적 장면을 통해 표출되고 있어 절제되고 곡진한 정감이 잘 드러나 있다. 사실성과 구체성이 분명하게 구현된 행장류 산문은 대상 인물이 처한 현실과 인물 자신의 개성을 잘 보여줌으 로써 역사 기록의 생생한 자료가 된다. <先妣遺事>의 경우 경제적 수완이 남달랐던 사대부 여성의 독특한 이 력을 보여줄 뿐만 아니라, 그 삶의 내력이나 실상이 아주 구체적이고 핍진하게 그려진다는 점에서 史料적인 가치가 선별적이고 독보적이다. 더욱이 행장류 산문은 한 인물의 죽음에서 출발하는 글이므로, 작자의 죽음을 바라보는 시선과 관점이 드러나 는 정도에 따라서 실용적 목적을 지닌 단순한 기록물 이상의 감동이 구현될 수 있다. <先府君事狀>은 아버지 를 여읜 자식의 절제된 슬픔, 임종 상황의 엄숙하고 비통한 분위기, 아버지의 寬厚하고 통찰력 있던 모습 등이 장면화를 통해 구체적으로 그려지고 있다. 훌륭한 인물의 인상적인 삶의 이력을 마주 대할 때 전해지는 생생 한 감동과 정제된 悲感이 잘 표현되었기에 行狀類 산문의 문학성을 잘 보여주는 작품이라 생각된다.
