This study focuses on the perspective of Health which is one of the main concepts of Nursing, and it examines the impact of participation in volunteer activities and successful aging of 60 years of age or older and also examined the mediating effect of ego integrity. The participants of the research are from the Welfare Center for the Elderly, located in city of JeonJu, and the final research result is based on the analysis of 192 elderly people over the age of 60. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, if you look at the numbers of frequency and distribution of the general characteristics of the subjects which includes their degree of participation in volunteer activities, one who has a spouse, higher education and religion has higher numbers. Secondly, the elderly volunteer participation level was found to have a direct impact on successful aging. Thirdly, it can be seen that the rate of elderly volunteer participation mediates sense of ego integrity which indirectly affects successful aging. Therefore, this study acknowledges the importance of participation in the elderly volunteer and proposes theoretical and practical directions to revitalize elderly volunteer participation.

본 연구는 간호학의 주요 개념 중 하나인 건강이라는 관점에 주목하여 60세 이상의 노인의 자원봉사 활동 참여와 성공적 노화에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 자아통합감의 매개 효과를 알아보았다. 연구대상자는 전주시에 소재한 노인복지관을 이용하는 만 60세 이상 노인 192명을 최종 분석하였으며 이를 통하여 얻어진 연구의 결과롤 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구대상자의 일반적 특성과 자원봉사활동참여정도, 자아통합감 및 성공적 노화에 대한 빈도 및 분포를 살펴보면 배우자가 있을수록, 경제상태가 좋을수록, 학력이 높을수록, 종교가 있을수록 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 노인자원봉사 참여정도는 성공적 노화에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 노인자원봉사 참여정도는 자아통합감을 매개하여 성공적 노화에 간접적으로 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 노인의 자원봉사 참여에 대한 중요성을 인식하고 향후 노인자원봉사참여 활성화와 이론적, 실천적 발전방향에 대해 제안해보았다.
