In the midst of the Christian missionary work during the 21st century, several main concepts arose with much importance: Diaspora, the re-evangelization of Europe, ecumenical missionary cooperation, the Missional Church etc. At the core of Western Europe lies France, which opens its' doors to recognize such importance, is also the center stage for Christian missionary work. Therefore, understanding France as a mission center and destination is an essential gateway to carry out its' worldwide mission in 21st century. This article is aimed for studying if France is indeed a missionary destination, and introducing its missionary work which has accomplished or can be accomplished. With only a mere 2.6% of the population in France being partWeon Yong Seong graduated from Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary(B.Th., M.Div.). He is a missionary in France sent by PCK, pastor in charge at Paris Sonann Church, joint Representative in Mission 4 Europe, and president of Presbyterian Korean Church Council in Europe. 116 선교와 신학 33집of the protestant church, it's no wonder France is a centralizedmissionary destination. By introducing and analyzing its' pastfive hundred years of history (from religious reformation to thepresent) it describes the tragic circumstances which led to such aresult. It also introduces the missionary work with Paris SonannChurch as the pivot. Through showing the possibilities of futuremissionary work, I have been trying not only to emphasizethat France is the main center of European and African IslamicFrench-speaking countries' missionary work, but also tohighlight the role and importance of Diaspora Korean church. The 21st century is without a doubt the era of Europeanmission. Still only at its early phases France, with itsboundless potential, is not only a missionary destination, butalso the principal zone as the mission center for Europe andAfrica. When a paradigm shift occurs in Diaspora churches inFrance as transitioning to the missionary churches, Christianmission of the 21st century will be revitalized.

21세기 기독교선교에 있어서 중요하게 떠오르고 있는 개념들은 디아스포라, 유럽재복음화, 에큐메니칼 선교협력, 선교 적 교회론 등이다. 이런모든 개념들이 실현될 수 있는 중요한 현교현장이 서유럽 중심에 있는 프랑스이다. 그러므로 프 랑스를 선교지와 선교의 센터로 이해하는 것은 교회가 21세기 세계선교를 수행함에 있어서 매우 중대한 일이다. 이에 따라 본 글은 프랑스가 과연 선교지인가에 대해서 알아보고 선교지로서 프랑스에서 이루어지거나 이루어질 수 있 는 선교사역에 대해서 소개하고자 하였다. 본 글은 인구대비 2.6퍼센트의 열악한 프랑스 개신교회의 현실을 소개함으로 프랑스가 선교지일 수밖에 없음을 밝혔으 며, 그들의 지난 500년 역사(종교개혁에서 현재까지)를 분석 소개함으로써 이런 결과를 가져올 수밖에없었던 안타까운 정황을 서술하는 작업을 하였다. 또한 현재 프랑스 파리에 있는 파리 선한장로교회를 중심으로 이루어지고 있는 선교사역을 소개하고 앞으로의 선교적 가능성들을 제시하였다. 프랑스가 유럽과 아프리카 회교권 불어권 선교의 센터일 뿐만 아니라 이를위해서 디아스포라 한인교회의 역할과 그 중 요성을 드러내고자 하였다. 21세기는 유럽선교의 시대임이 분명하다. 이제 시작단계에 불과하지만 선교를 위한 무한한 가능성의 지역으로 존재하 며, 그 중에서 프랑스는선교지일 뿐만 아니라 유럽과 아프리카를 위한 선교센터로서 중요한 지역이다. 이를 위하여 프 랑스에 있는 디아스포라 한인교회들이 선교적 교회로패러다임 전환이 이루어질 때 21세기 기독교선교는 새로운 활력을 얻게될 것이다.
