The wound dressing is a medical device coming into direct contact with injured skin, for the purpose of protecting the wound from contamination. Therefore, it has to be biocompatible and able to protect the wound and prevent contamination. Further, it has to be able to absorb exudate and prevent loss of blood or body fluid. At present, various types of wound dressing products are commercially available, including polyurethane foam, sheet and liquid. Accordingly, it is not possible to make specifications that can generally apply to all kinds of such products. Therefore, it is highly necessary to develop guidelines on test items and methods for evaluation of wound dressing products covering various raw materials and product types. To this end, information on regulatory authorization of wound dressing products and R&D trends in Korea and foreign countries was investigated and local and foreign specifications and international standards were collected and comparatively reviewed. In this study, quality specifications that cover various raw materials and wound dressing product types were investigated and developed. The guidelines on performance evaluation of wound dressing products developed in this study may be useful in development and quality control of wound dressing products, ultimately contributing to improved safety and efficacy of wound dressing products.

창상피복재는 창상의 오염방지 및 보호를 목적으로 상처 난 피부에 직접 닿는 의료기기로써, 생체적합성을 포 함하여 상처를 보호하고 오염을 방지하며 삼출액의 흡수, 출혈 또는 체액의 손실을 방지할 수 있는 기능을 갖추어야 한다. 현재 유통되고 있는 창상피복재들은 폴리우레탄 폼형, 시트형, 액체형 등의 다양한 형태로 제조되고 있어 하나 의 특정 시험 규격을 일괄적으로 적용할 수 없다. 따라서 원재료 및 형태별로 각각 적용할 수 있는 창상피복재의 시 험항목 및 시험방법에 대한 가이드라인 마련의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이를 위해 창상피복재의 허가 현황과 국내· 외 연구 및 개발 동향을 조사하였고 관련 국내·외 규격 및 국제 규격들을 수집 및 검토하였다. 본 연구에서는 창상 피복재의 원재료 및 형태별로 각각의 특성에 맞게 적용될 수 있는 시험항목 및 시험방법을 도출하였다. 마련된 창상 피복재의 성능평가 시험방법 가이드라인은 제조업체가 동 의료기기의 제품 개발과 품질관리에 대한 기술 자료로 활 용되어 동 품목의 허가에 요구되는 안전성과 유효성 확보에 적극 이용될 것으로 기대된다.
