- Dental handpiece is the medical device mainly used in the hospital for dental health care in our daily lives. Therefore, it is considered to be important to secure the safety and performance of dental handpiece in the aspect of user and consumer. Thus, this study tried to secure the item, standard and method to evaluate the safety and performance of dental handpiece which coincide with the international standard. In order to perform this, differences between each standard were drawn through reviewing relative domestic and foreign standards, and finally, the evaluation items for safety and performance could be confirmed according to the driving system (electric/pneumatic) through validation on proposed test items. Through the result of this study, it is expected that it will work for the enhancement in quality of domestic dental handpiece and contribute to the security of international-level safety and competitiveness

- 치과용핸드피스는 일상생활에서 치아건강관리를 위해 병원에서 주로 사용하는 의료기기로써 치과용핸드피스 의 안전성 및 성능 확보는 사용자 및 소비자의 측면에서 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국제수준에 부합하는 치과용핸드피스의 안전성과 성능을 평가하기위한 항목, 기준 및 방법을 확보하고자 하였다. 이를 수행하기 위하여 관련 국내·외 규격을 검토하여 차이점을 도출하였으며, 제안된 시험항목에 대한 검증을 통하여 최종적으로 구동 방식(전동식/공기압축식)에 따라 안전성 및 성능 평가 항목을 확정할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 통하여 국내 치 과용핸드피스의 품질 향상을 도모하고, 국제 수준의 안전성과 경쟁력 확보에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
