The purpose of this study is to examine the impacts of residents’ perception of community social disorganization on depressive mood. To accomplish the aims of the study, the author collected the survey data from seven-hundred residents in Daegu. Among them, 677 residents’ data were used in the statistical analysis. To figure out the effects of the perceived community characteristics, several regression models were adopted. According to the factor analysis of depression, depressive mood is consisted of three subordinate concepts, including lethargy, loneliness/depression, and turbulent life. The findings in the analysis of variance in the level of depression according to gender, unemployment of family members, and family disrupt show that female and someone who have an experience of family members’ employment are tendency to have the higher level of lethargy and loneliness/depression, while residents in disrupt family show the higher level of dissatisfaction and repentance in their lives. In the regression model to find out the effects of the perceived community disorganization, the results of lethargic model are explained by gender, age, family members’ unemployment, and social cohesion. Especially, residents’ perceiving the lower level of social cohesion in community are more likely to have the symptom of lethargy in their lives. Moreover, the loneliness/depression model show that informal social control and disorder are important factors to predict residents’ psychological distress. Finally, the results in the unease life model show that disorder and social cohesion are not significant predictors, but informal social control is found to be an important factor to determine the tranquility of life. In other words, community residents’ perceiving the stronger level of social control enjoy their stable lives. In sum, this study shows that the symptoms of social disorganization have an influence in residents’ depressive mood and its implication is that making community more soundness can keep residents’ psychological health sound.

이 연구의 목적은 지역주민들의 인지된 지역사회해체 징후가 우울감에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위한 것이다. 이 연구의 수행을 위해 대구시에 거주하는 성인 남녀 700명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 677명의 설문자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 지역적 특성의 영향을 파악하기 위해 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과를 설명하자면, 우울감은 3개의 요인구조로 이루어져 있었으며 우울감, 무기력감, 평온하지 않은 삶으로 구분되는 것으로 나타났다. 성별, 가족실업여부, 그리고 결손가정여부에 따른 우울감 관련변인의 차이를 살펴본 결과 여성과 가족 중 실업을 경험한 경우 무기력감과 외로움/우울감을 많이 느끼는 것으로 나타난 반면 가족의 결손을 겪은 경우 삶에 대한 후회와 불만족이 보다 높은 것으로 보인다. 지역사회 해체 징후들이 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위한 회귀분석모델의 결과 무기력감을 설명하는 요인은 성별, 연령, 가족 중 실업, 그리고 사회유대였다. 특히 자신이 거주하는 지역의 사회유대가 약하다고 인식하는 사람들은 삶에 대한 무기력감이 높은 것으로 보인다. 한편, 외로움/우울감에 대한 회귀분석모델에서는 지역사회의 비공식적 사회통제와 무질서가 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 보여주었다. 즉, 지역사회의 통제능력이 약하고 무질서한 양태를 자주 경험하는 사람들은 외로움과 울적한 기분을 많이 느끼는 것으로 보인다. 마지막으로 평온하지 않은 삶에 대한 회귀분석결과 무질서와 사회유대는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았으나 지역사회의 비공식적 사회통제는 삶의 평온을 유지시켜주는 중요한 요인으로 나타났다. 즉, 지역사회의 자생적인 사회통제능력이 강하다고 인식하는 사람들은 자신들의 삶을 안정적으로 유지할 수 있다는 결과이다. 결과적으로 지역사회의 사해해체 징후들은 개인의 우울감과 관련된 변인들에 일정수준 영향을 미치고 있으며 지역사회를 건전하게 조성함으로써 개인의 정신건강을 건강하게 할 수 있다는 교훈을 제공하는 결과이다.
