The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between teachers' efficacy and communication skills in "adaptation" stage of primary school teachers. Communication skill is essential for living in the lifelong learning society of the future. Especially, communication skill for a teacher is more important than an individual person in the sense that it is the most universal tool in teaching and guidance and also helps enhance a positive relationship with students, parents, and other school members. This study discussed the status of teacher efficacy and communication skills in "adaptation" stage of primary school teachers and the relationship between these two variables. The study shows that four sub-factors of communication skills and three sub-factors of teacher efficacy have meaningful positive co-relationships. A multiple regression study shows that teacher efficacy has a meaningful relationship with all of the sub-factors of communication skills. Also, all of the regression models show that attentive listening and empathy are the most influential among the communication factors.

본 연구의 목적은 적응기 초등교사를 대상으로 의사소통능력과 교사효능감 간의 상 호관계를 파악하는 것이었다. 의사소통능력은 미래 평생학습사회를 살아가는 개인의 핵 심 역량이다. 특히 교사의 의사소통은 개인 차원을 넘어서 교수․학습활동과 학생 생활 지도의 가장 보편적인 도구이자 학생, 학부모, 동료교원 등 학교구성원들과의 긍정적인 관계를 높여줄 수 있는 수단이라 할 수 있다는 점에서 매우 중요한 역량이다. 이를 위 해 적응기 초등교사들의 의사소통능력과 교사효능감은 어떠한지, 또 이들 두 변인간은 어떤 상관관계가 있는지를 살펴보았다. 의사소통능력의 네 가지 하위요인과 교사효능감 의 세 가지 하위요인의 상관을 분석한 결과 유의미한 정적 상관을 보였으며, 다중회귀 분석 결과 교사효능감은 의사소통능력의 전 하위 영역을 유의미하게 설명하였다. 또한 모든 회귀모형에서 경청․공감능력이 영향력의 정도가 큰 것으로 나타나 의사소통능력 요소 가운데에서도 경청․공감의 언어는 매우 강력한 힘을 지니고 있음을 알 수 있었 다.
