This paper is one in which we considered the problem of original text and the nature of classical literature translated through the current situation in Korea of “Tale of Genji” the translation. The abridged translation by Suematsu Kencho “Genjimonogatari” has been published in the United Kingdom 1882 year-end. It passed 130 years after that, Tale of Genji has been translated into 36 languages ​​now. The Tale of Genji will be translated for the first time in 1975, and eight sorts of translations including the complete translation of the three, are published as of December, 2013 even in South Korea. In this paper, I summarize the current state covers the Korean translation of “The Tale of Genji”. To the next, in terms of “problem of original text and the translation” and “problems due to language differences between Japanes and Korean” problems when translated into Korean classical literature of foreign non-existence of authentic book the “Tale of Genji” I discussed from. In conclusion, in addition to the translation technique general, translator classical literature, 1) A clear presentation of bibliography of original text, 2) A loyal translation to the original text 3) presenting of background knowledge necessary to understand for foreign readers.

本稿は、韓国における『源氏物語』翻訳の現状を通して古典文学翻訳の在り方と底本の問題を考察したものである。1882年末松謙澄による抄訳『Genjimonogatari』がイギリスで出版されてから130年、現代においても『源氏物語』は新たな読者を開拓しつつ世界の人々に読み継がれ、その翻訳された言語は現在36の言語にのぼる。韓国においても『源氏物語󰡕は、1975年初めて翻訳されてから３種の完訳をはじめ計８種の韓国語訳が出版された。そこで本稿では、各論稿に見られる誤記などを改めるとともに、まだ把握されていない韓国語訳本も加えて、2013年現在の出版状況と書誌を｢韓国語訳『源氏物語』一覧表｣としてまとめ提示した。その結果、共通して把握されている田溶新訳･金蘭周訳･金鍾徳抄訳のほかに、研究者によって書誌に誤情報のあった柳呈訳と、一人の研究者にのみ把握された林瓚洙訳の書誌を改めるとともに、本稿で初出となった文明載抄訳と李吉鎭訳『あさきゆめみし』加え、2013年12月現在の韓国語訳『源氏物語』を網羅して把握できた。今後の韓国語訳『源氏物語』研究のための基礎的な研究になるものと考える。その次に、定本の存しない外国の古典文学である『源氏物語』を韓国語に翻訳する際の問題点を｢日─韓の言語差による問題｣と｢翻訳と底本テクストの問題｣という観点から考察した。特に後者においては、古典文学の翻訳における底本の重要性という根本的な問題と関連付けて韓国語訳底本の問題を考察した。原作者による原典からの翻訳と一度原典からの翻訳過程を経たテクストを底本として重訳する場合では、訳者の翻訳に対する姿勢は変わってしかるべきであることと、重訳の場合は原典テクストの作家とともに底本テクストの訳者の存在が作品に大きな影響を与えることになるので『源氏物語』のような定本の存しない古典文学の翻訳を考えるに当たって大変重要なことであることを具体例を挙げ指摘し、翻訳の際の訳者の姿勢と定本の存しない古典文学翻訳の在り方について考察を加えた。最後に、古典文学翻訳における底本の問題は訳者の姿勢とも関わる問題であるので、今後新たに『源氏物語』が韓国で翻訳される際に準拠し得る提言を示した。すなわち、『源氏物語』のように異本の存し、その異文も作品の享受史としての重要な足跡となる古典文学を重訳する際には、一般的な翻訳技法に加え、１)底本テクストの明確な提示、２)底本テクストに忠実な翻訳、３)作品理解に必要な背景的知識の提示、という点に注意を払う必要がある。翻訳者はこのような認識のもとに、翻訳本の目的と読者層に見合った形で背景知識を提示するなど異文化読者の理解を助け、自らの翻訳の基盤を為す底本についても偽りなく、十分に示した上で古典文学の翻訳に取りかかることが望ましいと考えられる。
