The objective of this research is obtain information and feedback to better reform the child care environment of the Gasan Industrial Complex by learning about the child care circumstances of laborers. This research was subject to 272 laborers with a child under 7 years of age. The survey was distributed and collected afterwards. According to the survey, the child care conditions were not satisfactory. The majority of the laborers have thought about quitting their jobs due to the child care conditions. From this we are able to understand the difficulties of maintaining the job and caring for their children simultaneously. Most laborers considered the establishment of child care centers in the complex necessary. The laborers of the complex preferred child care centers run by the local or federal government to public centers.

본 연구는 가산산업단지 근로자들의 보육실태와 요구를 알아봄으로써 산업단지의 보육환경을 개선하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 대상은 가산산업단지에서 근무하는 7세 이하 자녀를 둔 근로자 272명이며 질문지를 배부하고, 수집하였다. 연구결과 가산산업단지 근로자의 보육실태에서 자녀보육에 대한 만족도는 대다수가 ‘불만족’이었다. 자녀 보육 문제로 퇴사를 생각해 본 적 있냐는 질문에는 ‘그렇다’ 로 답한 경우가 높아 상당수의 응답자들이 자녀 보육과 직장생활을 양립하는 데에 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 근로자의 보육요구에 있어서는 산업단지 어린이집의 운영을 다수가 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 산업단지 근로자들이 어린이집 설립 시 선호하는 운영형태로 ‘국공립 어린이집’이 가장 많았다.
