Starting from Seodang (village school) education to the modern elementary education, children's education has constantly changed while going through hundreds of different processes. Recently, even in the primary education, parents and teachers have more interest in creativity, children's human rights, child-centered education, and children's freedom and so on, and at the same time, the elementary education is gradually developing better. However, there exist various kinds of problems behind these positive aspects, such as school violence, egoism, collapse in teachers' authority, and alienation. In a short period of time, the elementary education has made a rapid progress and growth, but it is undergoing growing pains as much as the progress and growth. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze Kant's 「Ueber Paedagogik」to find out the fundamental causes for problems of the present elementary education, while investigating what made such problems. Particularly, this study extracted elements from Kant's 「Ueber Paedagogik」, which can be meaningful to the elementary education, and analyzed them, and through his theory of education, this study attempted to review the direction of the present elementary education.

서당교육에서 시작하여 지금의 현대 초등교육에 이르기까지 교육은 수많은 과정을 겪으며 끊임없이 변화하고 있다. 최근 초등교육 내에서 창의력, 아동인권, 아동중심주의, 아동의 자유 등 아동에 대한 관심이 더욱 높아지고 교육도 점차 발전하고 있으나 그 이면에는 여러 가지 문제들이 존재하고 있다. 학교폭력, 이기주의, 교권추락, 소외 등의 문제가 바로 그것이다. 짧은 기간 동안의 빠른 발전과 성장을 이루었지만 그만큼의 성장통이 존재하고 있는 것이 다. 따라서 본 연구는 왜 이런 문제점들이 생겨났는지, 현 초등교육에서의 문제의 근본원인을 찾고자 칸트의 「교육학 강의」를 분석하여 생각해보고자 하였다. 칸트의 「교육학 강의」에 서 초등교육에 의미가 될 수 있는 부분을 추출하여 해석하였고, 그의 교육이론을 통해 초등 교육의 방향을 되새겨 보기로 한다.
