In a Postmodern age, preachers need to consider how to systematize a methodology of application- focused expository doctrinal preaching with authority and relevance beyond the necessity of doctrinal preaching or catechism preaching. The central idea of this study is to propose application-aimed expository doctrinal preaching as an alternative to postmodern audiences based on biblical, historical, contemporary models. This study, first of all, briefly considers the biblical and historical root of expository doctrinal preaching. Second part deals with crucial principles of application-aimed expository doctrinal preaching focusing on the definition of doctrinal preaching, its relationship with biblical and systematic theology, and a Christo-centric perspective. Third, the researcher analyzes Mark Driscoll's exemplary sermons in the light of expository doctrinal preaching. On the basis of analysis of Driscoll's preaching, this study articulates six marks of his expository doctrinal preaching: 1) a holistic paradigm of reformission(Gospel, Culture, Church), 2) a variety of recipes for expository doctrinal preaching, 3) Christ -centered exposition in the light of vintage Jesus, 4) Cross-centered expository preaching with audience- focused relevance, 5) missional application based on biblical contextualization, 6) expository doctrinal preaching with apologetic focus(proof, defense, and offense). Lastly, from a reformed point of view, this paper critically evaluates Driscoll's expository doctrinal preaching.

포스트모던 시대 강해설교자들은 교리설교 혹은 교리문답 설교에 대한 필요성을 넘어 어떻게 권위와 적실성을 가진 교리적인 강해설교를 추구할 것인지에 대한 방법론을 세워가는 것이 필요하다. 본고의 중심 논지는 포스트모던 청중을 변혁시키기 위한 대안으로서 성경적, 역사적, 현대적 모델에 대한 연구를 통해 적용이 살아있는 강해적 교리설교의 회복이 필요하다는 것이다. 이를 위해 첫 번째로 포스트모던 청중을 변화시키는 강해적 교리설교의 성경적, 역사적 뿌리를 간략히 고찰할 것이다. 두 번째로 교리 강해설교의 핵심 원리(정의, 다른 신학과 관계, 중심 초점으로서 그리스도)에 대해 논의할 것이다. 세 번째로 새로운 칼빈주의 운동(개혁주의 설교 운동)의 설교자들 가운데 젊은 기수인 Mark Driscoll을 적용지향적‘강해적 교리설교’의 관점에서 분석해 보고자 한다. Driscoll의 실제 설교 분석을 통해 그의 강해적 교리 설교의 주요 특징은 첫째, 포스트모던 청중을 위한 선교개혁(reformission) 패러다임에 기초한 강해적 교리설교, 둘째, 다양한 레시피(recipe)로 맛을 내는 강해적 교리설교, 셋째, 빈티지지저스(vintage Jesus)를 통한 복음중심적인 강해적 교리설교, 넷째, 청중을 향한 적용이 살아있는 십자가중심의 강해적 교리설교, 다섯째, 성경적상황화(contextualizing)를 통한 선교적인 적용을 지향하는 그리스도 중심적 강해설교, 여섯째, 변증적 기능을 추구하는 강해적 교리설교라고 할 수 있다. 마지막으로 Driscoll의 강해적 교리설교에 대한 비평적 평가와 발전적 제안을 제시해 보고자 한다.
