The automotive industry is a strategic industry which is high value-added and play a key role in the country's exports and employment. The purpose of the study is to predict that which country's automotive exports will grow in the future in Russian imported car market, when compare the two country which one is the Korea which country show a steady growth in the automotive exports to Russia over the past 15 years, the other is Japan which country command the largest share of present Russian imported car market. The period of analysis is 1995-2012 by annual data, and the import demand function was used to estimate the analysis model. In order to estimate the import demand function in Russian imported car market, we selected per-unit export prices of the auto industry in both countries, Korea and Japan, and Russian nominal GDP per capita as factors and executed the empirical analysis. Analysis results showed that Korean demand elasticity for GDP per capita could be more flexible than that of Japanese for each of passenger cars, trucks, auto parts industry. At a time when trade volume increases between Korea and Russia, the multidirectional research is needed for the impact on Korean automotive industry as the changes in Russian market environment, in addition the overall export strategy modification including used car export is needed in order to secure market share against the various growing Russian import regulations. Furthermore, serious review is required to promote market advantage against the EU and Japan through Korea-Russia FTA

자동차산업은 부가가치가 크고 국가의 수출과 고용에서 핵심적인 역할을 하는 전략산업이다. 지난 15년 동안 꾸준한 성장을 보이고 있는 한국 자동차의 대러 수출과 현재 러시아 수입자동차 시장의 최대점유율을 차지하고 있는 일본자동차의 대러 수출을 비교분석하여 향후 양국 자동차산업의 신장률을 비교예측해 보는 것이 연구의 목적이다. 분석기간은 1995년부터 2012년까지 연간 자료를 이용하였으며 수입수요함수를 추정하여 분석하였다. 추정을 위한 영향요인으로 한․일 양국 자동차산업의 단위당 수출가격과 러시아 1인당 명목 GDP를 선정하여 실증분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 승용자동차, 화물자동차, 자동차부품산업 각각의 GDP에 대한 수요탄력성에서 한국이 일본보다 탄력적이라는 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 한국과 러시아의 교역규모가 증가하고 있는 시점에서 러시아의 시장 환경 변화가 우리나라 자동차 산업에 미치는 영향에 대한 다각적인 연구와 함께 늘어나는 러시아의 각종 수입 규제 속에서 시장점유율 확보를 위해 중고차 수출을 포함한 수출전략의 전반적인 제고가 필요하다. 아울러 한-러 FTA 추진을 통해서 EU나 일본 등에 대항하여 시장선점을 도모하는 검토가 요구된다.
