This research investigates Chilseobang(七書房), one of private bookshops which published books in the Jeonju province from 1908 to 1940. In this research, the period of its publishing, and the editions, subjects, titles and imprints of its publications are examined. On the colophons of books published by Chilseobang, Jang Hwansun(張煥舜) was recorded as an editor and a publisher, and Kim Kwangsu(金光秀) was a printer who worked from 1916 to 1918. Particularly, a lot of copies of Chilseo, that is, Seven Confucious Classics were published in 1916. In terms of editions, the majority of the publications were wood-block prints(97.5%) and only few were books printed in wooden movable types(2.5%). In terms of subjects, the class of Confucious Classics was predominant in numbers(78%), and among them, there were a lot of Four Confucious Classics, and some Books of Changes and Books of Documents. The rest were chronologies in the class of History(14.4%), encyclopedic works in the class of Miscellaneous Topics(6.8%), and novels in the class of Collections(0.8%). Among a total of 27 titles, there were the largest number of JuyeokJeonuidaejeon(周易傳義大全), and Tongnamosippyeonsangjeolyohae(通鑑 五十篇詳節要解), Maengjajipjudaejeon(孟子集註大全), Juyeokeonhae(周易諺解), Noneoeonhae(論語諺解), Jungyongeonhae(中庸諺解) were published several times. Karye(家禮), Somigasuk-jeomkyobueumtongnamjeolyo(少微家塾點校附 音通鑑節要), Tongnamosippyeon-sangjeolyohae(通鑑五十篇詳節要解), and Jeongseondongnaeseonsangjwassijeoneui-guhae(精選東萊先生左氏博義句解) were published twice. There were no copyrights on their colophons. On the imprint of 1916, four other bookshops, including Changnamseokwan(昌南書館), Singuseorim(新舊書林), Hoidongseokwan(匯東書館), and Dongmiseosi(東美書市), as well as Chilseobang(七 書房) were registered as a printer and publisher. In 1917 and 1918, however, only Chilseobang(七書房) was registered as a printer and publisher, Changnamseokwan (昌南書館) was registered as the sole agency in charge of selling its publication.

이 연구는 1908-1940년까지 전주지방의 출판업무를 담당한 민간서포 중에서 <七書 房>에 대한 연구로, 출판활동기간과 판본별ㆍ주제별ㆍ서명별 분포와 판권면 기재사항에 대한 내용들을 살펴본 것이다. 칠서방의 판권면에 편집 겸 발행자는 張煥舜으로 인쇄자는 金光秀로 등록되어 있다. 1916 년부터 1918년까지 활동을 하였는데 특히 1916년에 많은 七書(四書三經)를 출판하였다. 판본별로는 목판본(97.5%)이 절대적으로 우세하며 일부 목활자본(2.5%)이 분포되어 있다. 주제별 특징은 대체로 經部(78%)가 우세하고 이 중에서 특히 四書類가 비중이 높고 易類와 書類도 많은 수를 차지하고 있다. 그 밖에 史部(14.4%)의 編年類, 子部(6.8%)의 類書類, 集部(0.8%)의 소설류로 분포되어 있다. 전체 종수는 27종으로 서명별로 ｢周易傳義大全｣이 제일 많고 ｢通鑑五十篇詳節要解｣, ｢孟子集註大全｣, ｢周易諺解｣, ｢論語諺解｣, ｢中庸諺解｣ 등으로 두 번 출판한 서적은 ｢家禮｣, ｢少微家塾點校附音通鑑節要｣, ｢通鑑五十篇詳節要解｣, ｢精選東萊先生左氏博義句解｣이다. 판권면에 판권표시가 없는 것이 특징으로 1916년 판권면에는 七書房을 비롯한 昌南書 館과 新舊書林 및 匯東書館․東美書市까지 4개 서점이 인쇄 겸 발행소로 등록되어 있지 만 1917년과 1918년에는 칠서방만이 인쇄 겸 발행소 업무를 하고 昌南書館이 총 발매소로 등록되어 판매 업무를 담당하였다.
