The purpose of this research is to correct the errors in news reports which claimed that the Great Dharani Sutra of Immaculate and Pure Light(Mugu jeonggwang dae darani-gyeong) was produced in the Goryeo Period. This argument began with the mistakes in recently deciphering the pieces of document found inside the Seokgatap, which recorded its restoration at the Pulguk Temple. What this research discusses are as follows: First, it is pointed that news reports which claimed the publication date of the Great Dharani Sutra of Immaculate and Pure Light(Mugu jeonggwang dae darani-gyeong) as the Goryeo Period were wrong. Second, problems in deciphering the document of Seokgatap's restoration and assuming the actual date of building Seokgatap are discussed. Third, the complete report on the relics discovered at Seokgatap, submitted by the National Museum of Korea, is analyzed. Fourth, the inscriptions found inside the sari-ra case discovered in the three-storied stupa of Kuhwangri in Kyungju and the writings at the end title of the Great Dharani Sutra of Immaculate and Pure Light(Mugu jeonggwang dae darani-gyeong) are compared and analyzed. The results corroborate that the Great Dharani Sutra(Mugu jeonggwang dae darani-gyeong) was published in 706, when this Great Dharani Sutra was dedicated inside the sari-ra case.

이 논문은, 석가탑 사리공(舍利孔)의 바닥에서 발견된 묵서지편(墨書紙片: 佛國寺 無 垢淨光塔 重修記)이 최근에 해독되는 과정에서, ‘석가탑 ｢무구정광경｣은 고려시대의 소산 (所産)’이라고 언론에 잘못 보도에 사항에 대한 시정(是正)에 관한 연구이다. 첫째, 언론에 보도된 ｢무구정광경｣의 간행시기에 관한 최근의 논란 및 문제점에 관하여 논술하였다. 둘째, 중수기의 해석 문제 및 석가탑의 조탑년대 등을 다루었다. 셋째, <국립중앙박물관>의 “석가탑 유물관련 종합 경과보고”의 내용을 분석하였다. 넷째, ｢무구정광경｣의 간행시기를 구명(究明)하기 위하여, 경주 구황리 삼층석탑 사리 함 개부(盖部) 내면(內面)의 명문(銘文)과 ｢무구정광경｣의 권미제(卷尾題)의 글씨를 컴 퓨터그래픽으로 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, 구황리석탑 사리함의 명문 서사자(書寫者)와 석가탑 ｢무구정광경｣ 권미제의 필사자(筆寫者)는 동일인물(同一人物)이며, 이 동일인물이 동일년도(同一年度)에 구황리 석탑 사리함과 석가탑 ｢무구정광경｣ 권미제를 각각 다른 형식으로 사성(寫成)하였다는 사실을 증명하였다. 그리하여 ｢무구정광경｣의 간행시기(刊行時期: 목판 판각의 년도)는 구황리석탑 사리함 명문의 서사(書寫)년도인 ‘706년’임을 입증(立證)하였다.
