This study is to investigate the physical and bibliographical characteristics of the Buddhist scriptures found in the chests of four-guardian statutes at the Songgwang-sa, Sooncheon. In particular, the study analyzes in the four aspects such as: 1) the origin and development of Songgwang-sa; 2) the history of four-guardian gates and statutes and the investigation of materials from the statues; 3) the physical and bibliographical characteristics of the Buddhist scriptures; 4) the characteristics of a newly-found kyojang compared with the existing commentaries(what is called Kyojang(敎藏)). These Buddhist scriptures, except Taewidok-darani vol.1 can be called a kyojang. Among these kyojang, Kwaju-myopop-yeonhwakyeong vol.7 published in the fourth year of King Chungsuk(1341) and has been handed down until now. Inwang-hokuk-banyakeongpophyongcho vol. 5‧6 and Songyusikron-sulki vol. 6 were carved at the Kwangkyowon of Kumsan-sa and reprinted at the Kankyongdokam in King Sejo, Chosun dynasty. Kumkangbi-hyunsongrok vol. 3 ‧4 were transcribed by Shin Kyong-bu and carved at the Kankyongdokam. The others of kyojnag were published at the Kyojangdokam in Koryo dynasty and reprinted at the Kankyongdokam. Specially, Pophwakyong-hyunchanhegotongkum- sincho vol. 1‧2 were carved at the Kyojangdokam by using the Liao Edition and reprinted in the Kankyongdokam. It is found that Popwhamunkuki vol. 5‧6‧7‧8 were published by three different editions such as Kyojangdokam Editions, newly carved editions at the Kankyongdokam and recarved editiions in the sixteenth century. It is approved that these sacred books newly found in Songgwang-sa have the various and peculiar characteristics as kyojang and the value of cultural properties as a national treasure. The results of this study will be contributed for research the kyojang and utilized as important resources in the fields of bibliographical science, Korean studies, and Buddhist sciences, and others.

이 글은 순천 송광사 사천왕상의 복장전적의 서지적 특징 및 성격을 밝히기 위해 송광사의 연혁 및 중창, 천왕문 사천왕상의 연혁과 복장 조사, 사천왕상 복장전적의 서지적 특징 및 성격, 교장 전 래본과 사천왕상 발굴 교장의 비교의 순으로 살펴보았다. 송광사 천왕문 사천왕상에 나온 복장은 정장인 대위덕다라니 권4를 제외하고는 모두 교장이다. 이들 교장 11종중 과주묘법연화경 권7은 고려 충숙왕4년에 간행되어 전래된 것이고, 인왕호국반야 경소법형초 권5․6과 성유식론술기 권6은 금산사 광교원에서 간행된 사찰본을 저본으로 하여 간경 도감에서 번각한 것이다. 금강비현성록 권3․4는 간경도감에서 정서하여 번각한 판이고, 나머지는 교장도감본을 번각한 것인데, 그중 법화경현찬회고통금신초 권1․2는 요본을 저본으로 하여 교장도 감에서 필사 보각한 것을 간경도감에서 번각한 것이며, 법화문구기 권5․6․7․8은 교장도감본을 저본으로 번각 한 것이지만, 부분적으로 간경도감에서 필사하여 보판한 것과, 16세기경에 보각한 후인판이 섞여 있다. 이들 복장전적은 교장의 다양한 성격을 지니고 있고, 국가 보물급으로 지정될만한 문화재의 가 치를 지니고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 연구결과는 서지학, 한국학, 불교학 등의 분야에서 교장을 연구하고 중요한 자원으로 활용하는데 기여하게 될 것이다.
