This study aims to illumine the definition, goals, and factors of globalization of Baduk by exploring the literature on the fields of Baduk, Korean food, Taekwundo, etc. The results are as follows: First, globalization is defined as the phenomenon increasing the exchange of influences and mutual relationship among every nation in the world, in various fields, such as politics, economy, society, culture, science, etc. It includes the globalization of the culture in a particular country. Second, globalization aims at seeking publicity of national brand, spreading traditional culture, creating economic values and so on, in case of disseminating a special culture. Globalization of Baduk contains the motivation of enhancing the national image, creating employment and economic values, along with the cultural purpose intending to make many people enjoy the traditional culture of East Asia. Third, the basic factors of globalization can be classified into subject, object, purpose, time, place, and method according to “5W 1H”, which allows to understand clearly the nature of globalization. Fourth, as the aspect of its intention, it pursues topization, integration, Koreanization, as appeared in the globalization of a special culture, and rationalization and humanization, which are ultimate purposes or the outcome of general globalization. This study mainly relies on the literature under the situation where very few data about the study of globalization of Baduk exist. It is necessary to promote more fruitful studies like the field research in the future.

이 연구의 목적은 한식, 태권도, 바둑 등 여러 분야에서의 세계화에 관한 연구를 조사하여 세계화의 정의, 목적, 요인을 알아보려는 데 있다. 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 세계화란 세계 여러 나라가 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화, 과학 등 다양한 분야에서 서로 많 은 영향을 주고받으면서 교류가 많아지는 현상을 가리키는데, 특정지역의 문화를 세계화하는 차원의 세계화도 있다. 둘째, 세계화의 목적은 특수문화를 확산시키려는 경우 국가 브랜드 홍보, 전통문화 확산, 경 제적 가치 창출 등의 목적을 갖는다. 바둑 세계화의 경우 동아시아의 전통문화를 세계에 보급 하여 많은 사람들이 즐기도록 하려는 문화적 목적과 함께 국가적 이미지를 높이려는 동기, 세 계화를 통하여 직업적 활동이나 경제적 가치를 창출하려는 목적 등이 포함되어 있다. 셋째, 세계화의 기본적인 요인으로는 육하원칙에 따른 주체, 대상, 목적, 시기, 장소, 방법을 고려해 볼 수 있는데, 이러한 구분에 따라 세계화에 대하여 보다 명확하게 이해할 수 있다. 넷째, 세계화의 지향요인으로는 일류화, 합리화, 일체화, 한국화, 인류화 등을 들 수 있다. 이 중에서 일류화, 일체화, 한국화는 특수문화의 세계화에 포함되어 있는 요인들이고, 합리화와 인 류화는 궁극적으로 지향하거나 결과적으로 산출되는 요인으로 볼 수 있다. 이러한 지향요인에 의거하며 바둑 세계화가 지향해야 할 방향도 명확하게 설정해 볼 수 있다. 이 연구는 바둑 세계화에 관한 연구자료가 극히 미흡한 상황에서 문헌 위주로 연구한 것이 다. 앞으로 현장연구와 같은 풍성한 연구가 이루어질 필요가 있다.
