Many leadership theories recognized difficulties in explaining leadership using a single domain and acknowledged that leadership research needs to progress to the next level of integration. In this regard, the purpose of this research was to integrate extant leadership concepts to conceptualize a holistic leadership model that consists of multiple dimensions. Particularly among the intellectual, emotional, behavioral, ethical, and spiritual dimensions, the proposed model regarded spirituality as a pivotal dimension that underlies and influences the others and viewed a leader as a whole person who seeks for meaning of work, belonging to a community, and inner life, while serving. Based on the proposed arguments, implications for future research and practice were discussed.

많은 기존의 리더십 연구들이 제한된 요소로 리더십을 이해하는 데 대한 한계를 지적하며, 통합적 시각으로 리더십이 연구되어야 함을 제안하고 있다. 이런 맥락에서 이 연구는 기존의 리더십 연구와 관련 개념들을 바탕으로 다면적 요소를 포함한 통합적 리더십 모델을 개념화하는 데 주된 목적을 두었다. 특히 통합적 리더십 모델을 개념화함에 있어 영성을 지성, 감성, 행동, 및 윤리성 등 타 차원의 기반이 되는 핵심적인 차원으로 규정하였고, 리더십의 주체인 리더를 영성에 기초하여 가치를 추구하고 타인을 고무하는 전인적 인간으로 이해하였다. 연구를 통해 제시한 모델과 관련 내용을 토대로 인적자원개발 및 리더십 연구자와 현장 전문가를 위한 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.
