In this paper, we redefined the concept of Standard Spanish as a recommendable language in the field of Spanish Language Teaching in Korea. It is well known that, there are various dialects of Spanish covering from Spain to Latin America. The instructors of Spanish in Korea tend to teach Spanish of the Iberian Peninsula since they consider it as the standard language. It is because the most of them have the peninsular accent as they have done their Ph.D. program in Spain. But in fact, there is not a Standard Spanish, nor an educated Spanish which can be identified by Spanish native speakers. Furthermore, due to the rapidly growing trades and exchanges between Korea and Latin American countries, the importance of American Spanish is increasing and there is a greater demand to learn American Spanish by Korean students. Therefore, in this paper, we introduced the language policy of the Royal Spanish Academy (Real Academia Española) and the Association of Spanish Language Academies (Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española) as they admit the wide varieties of Spanish. However, at the same time, they pursue the unity of the Spanish in order to make people to adopt the standard form when teaching Spanish as a second language. We insist that we need to recognize the extensive variety of Spanish dialects in phonetics and lexical field, so that our students may perceive and learn them in order to enrich their linguistic knowledge about the current situation of Spanish. However, in the morphosyntactic field, we recommend to the instructors to adopt the language policy of the RAE-AALE, in order to increase educational efficiency and quality. This is because the Spanish morphosyntactic varieties are fairly limited comparing with phonetic and lexical varieties as might be disregarded in teaching and there seems to be not many problems when it comes to communicating with Spanish native speakers. In addition, we try to point out the problem of DELE, regarding to the difference between the European Spanish and the American Spanish.

본 논문에서는 한국에서의 외국어로서의 스페인어 교육에서 다루어지는 표준 스페인어에 대한 개념을 재고하고자 한다. 스페인에서부터 중남미 국가들에 이르기까지 스페인어에는 다양한 방언들이 존재함은 이미 잘 알려져 있다. 한국에서 스페인어 교수자들은 대부분 스페인에서 수학하여 스페인 억양을 지니고 있고 유럽 스페인어가 표준 스페인어라는 인식을 하고 있기 때문에, 수업시간에 유럽 스페인어를 가르치는 경향이 짙다. 그러나 실상 스페인어권 화자들 사이에 인정되는 표준 스페인어나 교양 스페인어는 존재하지 않는다. 게다가, 한국과 중남미 국가들 사이의 교역이 증대함에 따라 중남미 스페인어의 중요성도 커지고 있어서, 중남미 스페인어를 배우려는 학생이 늘어나고 있는 것도 명백한 현실이다. 이러한 점들을 고려하여, 본 논문에서는 스페인어의 다양성을 인정하면서도 언어의 단일성을 추구하고 있는 스페인 한림원과 스페인어 한림원 연합회의 언어정책을 소개하고, ELE 교육에서 이러한 언어정책을 어떻게 수용할지 고민해 보고자 한다. 즉, 스페인어의 음성적, 어휘적 분야에서의 지역적 다양성은 인정하여 학생들이 이러한 스페인어의 다양성을 인식하고 스페인어를 더 잘 익힐 수 있도록 수업시간에 이를 다루어야 한다고 본다. 그러나 형태통사적 분야에서는 ELE 교육에서의 효율성과 교육적 질을 향상시키기 위하여, 교수자들이 스페인 한림원과 한림원 연합회의 언어정책을 스페인어 교육에 활용하는 것이 바람직하다고 본다. 음성분야와 어휘 분야의 다양성에 비해, 스페인어의 형태통사적 변이는 무시해도 될 만큼 크지 않아, 스페인어권 화자들 간의 의사소통에 아무런 문제점도 야기 시키지 않기 때문이다. 마지막으로 유럽 스페인어의 어휘나 관용구를 중심으로 출제되고 있는 DELE의 문제점에 대해서도 살펴보고자 한다.
