Based upon the fundamental picture, “transcription on cellophane for the Cheonjeonri Petroglyphs, in Ulsan”, effectuated in field work, by the Museum of Kookmin University during 2003-2004 A.D., centering main surface except separate side, divide as “animal picture”, “figurative picture” and “linear picture”. And after, concernig about the picture in each form, classified and analysed focused on the taxology of animal for the “theme” and “motif” selected. In result, “animal picture” represents the theme of occupational hunting sorcery, and classified more than 5 class, 7 order, 11 family, 15 genus , and 232 pictures correspond to this category. Also, “figurative picture” represents the theme of sexual incantation in religion revere sex, classified more than 4 class, 6 order, 6 family, 6 genus, and 132 figurative pictures conformed to this category. And “linear picture” is the subject of factual scene of life and historical myth, classified more than animals belong to 2 class, 5 order, 6 family, 6 genus and conformed 164 individuals containing the picture of establishment and nature. Addition all of these, the pictures engraved on Cheonjeonri Petroglyphs numbered 528 in total. Among the pictures in these, ‘coupled animal and family troop’, ‘hunting man masked animal’, ‘magician having exaggerated penis’ and ‘long horned deer’ in “animal picture” category, ‘pregnancy and delivery’, ‘mythological picture’ in “figurative picture”, ‘harbour and horse procession’, ‘noble man and Hwarang’, ‘dragon’, ‘acrobatics’, ‘forest and logging’ and ‘mythological pictures’ in “linear picture” are especially remarkable. These pictures are core things to regulate the character of Cheonjeonri Petroglyphs, from now on, expect greatly, for the deep interest and active research on this pictures in this field.

울산 천전리 암각화에 대하여 2003∼2004년간 국민대학교 박물관이 실시한“轉寫實測調 査硏究”로 작성된 기본도를 바탕으로 삼았으며, 별면을 제외한 본 면을 중심으로“동물그림” 과“도형그림” 및“선각그림”을 구분하고 각 유형의 그림에 나타난“주제”와 채택된“모티 브”를 분류 분석하였다. 그 결과“동물그림”은 생업적 사냥주술을 주제로 하고 있고, 5강, 7목, 11과, 15속 이상의 232점 그림이 확인되었다. 또한“도형그림”은 성신앙의 생식주술이 그 주제이며, 4강, 6목, 6 과, 6속 이상의 동물과 도형 그림 132개체가 확인되었다. 그리고“선각 그림”은 事實的 생활상 과 史實的 신화가 주제이며, 2강, 5목, 6과, 6속 이상의 동물과 건조물 및 자연물 그림으로 분 류되었고, 164개체의 그림이 확인되었다. 이를 모두 합치면 천전리 암각화에서 총 528개체의 그림이 확인되었다. 이들 그림 중“동물그림”의‘짝짐승과 가족무리’‘, 짐승가면 사냥꾼’‘, 과장남근 주술사’‘, 큰 뿔 사슴’그림과“도형그림”의‘임신출산’‘, 신화적 그림’과“선각그림”의‘포구와 기마행 렬’,‘귀족과 화랑(花郞)’‘, 용’‘, 곡예’‘, 숲과 벌목’‘, 신화적 그림’들이 특히 주목된다. 이들은 천전리 암각화의 성격을 규정지을 핵심 그림들로서 앞으로 이에 대한 사계(斯界)의 깊은 관심과 활발한 연구를 크게 기대한다.
