Picture-book is the narrative that combine text and images with a complex structure. Illustrations in picture-book are expressed according to the flow of the text and at the moment narrative representation of time make a reader immersed in the story. This study employs semiotical method of A J Greimas to understand the story structure of writing and picture in picture-book and analyze what is the relationship between text and temporality in narrative - order, duration, frequency - which Gerard Genette suggested. Study result show that relationship between text and picture is complementary that text of writing is directly communicating stream of time and visual images of color, brightness, saturation, background-figure implicitly maximize the temporality. The study confirmed that diversity and temporality of picture-book narrativity maximize integratedly delivering narrative.

그림책은 글과 그림이 결합된 복합적인 구조를 지닌 서사물이다. 그림책에 나타난 일러스트레이션은 텍스트 의 흐름에 따라 표현되고 이때 시간의 서사적 표현은 독자로 하여금 스토리에 몰입하게 한다. 본 연구는 그림책에 내재된 글과 그림의 스토리 구조를 파악하기 위해 그레마스 (A.J Greimas)의 기호학 방법 을 택하였고 제랄드 주네트(Gerard Genette)가 제시한 서사 속 시간의 양상인 시간의 순서, 시간의 길이, 빈도 가 텍스트(글, 그림)와 어떠한 관계를 이루고 있는지를 분석하였다. 연구결과 그림책에 나타난 글과 그림의 관계에서 글 텍스트는 시간의 흐름을 직접적으로 전달하고 있었으며 색상, 명도, 채도, 배경의 시각적 이미지는 시간성을 함축적으로 극대화시켜 상호 보완적 관계로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 그림책 서사 구조의 다양성과 시간성은 통합적으로 전달되는 내러티브를 더욱 극대화 시켰음을 확인하였다.
