The object of this study is to show the effectiveness of the group art therapy concerning children's emotional intelligence in facilities. This program contains four categories including emotion recognition & expression, emotion facilitation in thoughts, application of emotional knowledge, and emotion control which are subordinated sections in emotional intelligence based on the recent emotional intelligence model. Also, it is divided by three levels concerning development of recognition ability, emotion development, and expansion of observed objects which are psychiatric mechanism and composed of 10 sessions. The subjects were 20 shelter-resident children and 10 of them were assigned to the experimental group and the others were to the control group. Only the experimental group members participated in this program two times a week for 90 minutes, respectively. In order to verify the effectiveness, we conducted pre & pro emotional intelligence examinations and analyzed the differences and covariation(ANCOVA). As a result, the experimental group showed positive effectiveness in the improvement of their emotional intelligence compared to the control group. There are some outstanding differences in sub-sections including thinking facilitation, emotion control, and empathy. Therefore, we certify that the group art therapy helps the improvement of children's emotional intelligence in facilities. Therefore, we were certain that the group art therapy program would be helpful for shelter-resident children to adjust themselves in societ.

본 연구는 집단미술치료가 시설아동의 정서지능에 미치는 효과성을 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 프로그램 내용은 최근 정서지능 모형을 근거로 정서지능의 하위영역인 ‘정서인식 및 표현, 사고의 정서촉진, 정서지식의 활용, 정서조절’ 4영역과 심리적 기제인 인지 능력의 발달, 정서발달, 조망대상의 확장에 따라 3수준으로 나누어 10회기로 구성하였다. 연구대상은 시설아동 20명을 선정하여, 실험집단과 통제집단에 각각 10명씩 배정한 후, 실험집단에 배정된 10명을 대상으로 주 2회 90분씩 총 10회기 프로그램을 실시하였다. 프로그램의 효과 검증을 위해 정서지능 사전ㆍ사후 검사를 실시하고, 사전ㆍ사후검사 점수의 차이와 사후검사의 공변량(ANCOVA) 분석을 통하여 프로그램의 효과를 검증하였다. 연구결과 집단미술치료를 실시한 실험집단은 프로그램 참가 후에 통제집단에 비해 정서지능 검사에서 유의미한 차이를 나타내었다. 하위영역에서는 감정이입, 사고촉진, 정서조절 영역에서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 따라서 집단미술치료가 시설아동의 정서지능이 향상에 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 시설아동의 사회적 적응을 돕기 위한 기초자료로 제공 될 것이다.
