The purpose of this study is to evaluate the citizen satisfaction of police services and to explore the determining factors influencing to the citizen satisfaction of police services. For this purpose, this study analyzes 18 police stations (9 in Daegu Region and 9 in Gyeongbuk Region) to measure the service qualities(SERVQUAL) and citizen satisfaction. This study employs Regression Analysis to explore the determining factors influencing to the citizen satisfaction of police services. And this study designates the citizen satisfaction variable as the dependent variables. And as the independent variables of the citizen satisfaction, this study picks up the responsiveness(responses to citizen requests, police behaviors), assurance(kindness and specialties), typology (conveniences of inside/outside facilities, the appearances of police, etc.), sympathy (conformities, considerations, concerns, etc. to citizen), and credibility(accuracy, keeping promises, etc.). The results of the analysis are as following. Firstly, in citizen satisfaction, the average value of 18 police stations in Daegu- Gyeongbuk Region is 2.952 (5-point Likert scale) and is rated below average. In detail, 10 police stations recorded above average, but 8 police stations recorded below average. In citizen satisfaction, the average value of Daegu Region is higher than that of Gyeongbuk Region. The average value of the first grade police stations is lower than those of the second- or the third- grade police stations. Specially, in the factors of service quality (responsiveness, assurance, typology, sympathy, credibility), the typology factor recorded the highest value in the citizen satisfaction, but the responsiveness factor recorded the lowest value in the citizen satisfaction. Secondly, in the determining factors of citizen satisfaction for service qualities, service quality factors are in general important determining factors except the responsiveness factor. Among them, it is shown that the credibility factor is the most important determining factor.

본 연구는 경찰서비스에 대한 주민만족도를 평가해보고, 경찰서비스의 주민만족도에 영향 을 미치는 결정요인들을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 대구지역 9개 경찰서와 경북지역 9개 경찰서 총 18개 경찰서의 관할 주민을 대상으로 조사한 설문자료를 이용하여 주민만족도를 측정하였다. 또한 주민만족도 에 영향을 미치는 결정요인들을 분석하기 위하여 주민만족도를 종속변수로 설정하고, SERVQUAL의 5가지 품질요소(유형성, 신뢰성, 대응성, 보증성, 공감성)를 독립변수로 설 정하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 대구․경북지역 연구대상 18개 경찰서의 주민만족도 평균값은 2.952(5점 척도)로 보통이하로 나타났다. 구체적으로 평균이상인 경찰서가 10개, 평균이하인 경찰서가 8개였 으며, 대구지역이 경북지역보다 만족도가 높게 나타났지만, 급지에 있어서는 2-3급지가 1 급지에 비해 높게 나타났다. 특히 서비스 질 요인중 유형성이 주민만족도가 가장 높았으며 대응성이 가장 낮게 평가되었다. 또한 서비스 질에 대한 만족도 결정요인은 주민과 경찰관 모두에 있어 대응성은 서비스 질 만족도의 결정요인으로 작용하지 못하였고 보증성, 유형 성, 공감성, 신뢰성 요소들이 중요한 결정요인으로 나타났다. 그 중에서도 특히 신뢰성 요 인이 가장 중요한 서비스 질 만족도 결정요인으로 밝혀졌다.
