The previous arguments about electronic literature have focused on its technological and aestheticinnovation. Electronic literature, as in the case of the hypertext literature, has been considered to be thesubcategory of internet art, thus, following its retreat. This logic argue that in order for the electronic art torevive it must merge with various artistic experiments and new technologies. However, this paper arguesthat the history of electronic literature can be rewritten by introducing the notion of community. Thiscommunity does not mean the orderly and harmonious one suggested by Aristotle’s Poetics, Wagner’sGesamtkunstwerk and Le Courbusier’s Poème électronique. This paper introduces the notion of ‘communityof sense’ suggested by Jacque Rancière, the democratic and egalitarian community. By interpreting J. R.
Carptenter’s In Absentia and Bo-Seon Shim and So-Yeon Kim’s You.Mix.Poem, this paper shows that electronic literature attempts to deconstruct the existing community and inscribe new dissensual community through the process of ‘subtracting’ and ‘adding’.

기존의 전자문학 논의는 기술적, 미적 혁신성이라는 관점에서 이루어져왔다. 이때 전자문학은 하이퍼텍스트의 경우처럼 인터넷 아트의 하위범주로서 인터넷 아트의 부상과 퇴조와 운명을 함께 하는 것으로 여겨졌다. 또한 전자문학이 되살아나기 위해서는 다양한 예술적 실험과 신기술을 융합시켜야 한다는 관점이우세했다. 그러나 전자문학의 역사는 공동체라는 관점에서 새롭게 쓰일 수 있다. 이때 공동체란 아리스토텔레스의 시학, 바그너의 총체예술, 르 코르뷔지에의 ‘전자시’가 의도한 집합적이고 질서정연한 공동체를뜻하지 않는다. 본 논문은 랑시에르가 이야기한 감각의 공동체 개념, 즉 민주주의적이고 평등주의적인 공동체 개념을 도입한다. 전자문학은 ‘빼기’와 ‘더하기’의 절차를 통해 기존의 공동체를 탈구성하고 새로운 이견적 공동체를 구성한다. 본 논문은 제이 알 카펜터의 In Absentia와 심보선·김소연의 You.Mix.Poem의 전자문학 작품 분석을 통해, 재개발의 현실에 기입되는 새로운 장소적 감각, 권위적 문학계에 기입되는 자유로운 놀이를 드러내고, 이러한 공동체적 (탈)구성의 힘이 전자문학에 내재함을 밝힌다.
