The practice and contents of the main thoughts of John Calvin has been the high ideal over the community of God, holding the pastoral care and the education together uniformly. The convergence of the practice, to which the practice of theology and the pastoral care of John Calvin turns, can be realized only with the educational-theological pastoral care. The perspective of Calvin, which places the Bible in its center, is the basis of theocracy, governing all fields of human thoughts with the word of God. It orients itself at the Biblical church. For the continuation of his thoughts, we are to understand the structures and contents of the contemporary educational pastoral care. We must practice the Biblical and Christocentric pastoral care as the focal point of education for the change of the Korean churches. The educational pastoral care is not the opposite aspect over the role between theology and education. The educational pastoral care is to be understood as a way to handle both theology and education. The theological education and educational theology is to cooperate in the practice of the church, family, and society and to renovate the church with the pastoral and Christian religious educational structures and contents.

칼뱅의 핵심사상의 내용과 실천은 바로 목회와 교육이 하나로 이루어진 하나님의 공동체에 대한 이상이었다. 칼뱅의 신학과 목회의 현장이 지향하는 실천의 수렴점 은 바로 교육목회를 통하여 실현가능한 영역이다. 칼뱅의 관점은 성경을 중심으로 성경적인 교회를 통한 하나님의 주권이 현재에 이루어지는 하나님의 통치를 핵심으 로 하는 신정정치의 틀을 유지하고 있으며, 칼뱅 사상의 신학적 관점의 접근은 많은 신학자들과 목회자들을 통하여 실천되어져 왔다. 그의 사상의 위대함과 계승은 우 리들의 지속적인 과제이다. 칼뱅의 신학과 목회의 현장에 대한 이해는‘칼뱅주의’ 를 통하여 각 나라와 지역에 적합하게 변형되어져 전개가 되었다. 칼뱅에 대한 무조 건적인‘교조주의적인 입장’보다는‘시대정신’에 합당한 모양으로의 전환이었다. 칼뱅사상의 계승과 시대적 전환은 500년 전의 종교개혁 태동기의 상황과는 다른 의 미에서, 21세기의한국적인상황에적합한새로운과제와문제를제기하고있다. 칼뱅 사상의 계승적 차원에서 우리는 현대의 교육목회적인 구조와 내용을 고찰할 수 있고, 보다 성경적이고 예수 그리스도 중심적인 교육목회의 내용으로 한국교회 의 변화를 만들어 갈 수 있다. 교육목회는 신학과 교육의 역할에 대한 대립적 시각이 아니다.‘ 신학적 교육’과‘교육적 신학’이‘모든 신학과 교육은 실천적이어야 한 다’는 명제 안에서 융합되어져 실천되어져야하는 내용과 구조가 바로 교육목회이 기때문이다.
