I determined that had been created from the Yeohang-civic culture through this article. For now, most discussions have figured characteristics of out the double-sided character like the coexistence of the characteristics both gentry literature and popular literature. This situation was understood what had happened because of author’s social position as the middle class of people. But the double-sided character of is not come from its author’s position. The situation is come from that was created from the Yeohang-civic culture which newly recreated the original materials from both sides gentry culture and popular culture by the concern and interest of the unspecific general public. I take notice of the three points to determine the base of is the Yeohang-civic culture. First, the lyric of was organized by the joint discussion. Second, interest was reconsidered through repeated extensions. At last, it was followed the text developing grammar of the Yeohang-civic culture. In addition, is highly probable to being created by compiling other lyrics based on Byon Chang-gam incident in Sunjo 10th year written on the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty. I studied that the incident was turned on the famous story at the Yeohang-civic culture after it had been the talk of the court, and then the author of compiled lyrics which had been the joint discussion of the Yeohang-civic culture. is not created of being based on the seriousness by a historical and existential individual. Although the materials of had been selected by both inducing interest of public readers through the text developing grammar of the Yeohang-civic culture and commensurating with the context as the main theme ‘exile’, was compiled of the texts which had lost its authorial tendency and had been the joint discussion of the time. was created as a reading for the general public including plenty interested reading matters.

이 글은 <만언사>의 산출 기반이 여항-시정 문화권임을 밝히고자 하였다. 기존 논의에서는 <만언사>의 특성을 양면성, 즉 사대부 문학 특성과 서민 문학 특성의 공존으로 이해하고 있으며, 이는 작자의 신분이 중인이기 때문에 나타난 현상으로 보았다. 하지만 <만언사>의 양면성은 작자의 신분이 중인이어서 나타난 현상이기보다는 사대부 문화권, 서민 문화권 등 다양한 문화권에서 원천 소재를 가져오되 이를 불특정 다수 대중의 흥미와 관심에 따라 새롭게 재창조하는 여항-시정 문화권에서 <만언사>가 산출되었기 때문에 나타난 현상이라고 할 수 있다. <만언사>의 산출 기반이 여항-시정 문화권임을 밝히기 위해 <만언사>가 첫째, 공동 담론에 의한 사설 짜임, 둘째, 반복적 확장을 통한 흥미성의 제고, 셋째, 대중적 전고의 나열이라는 여항-시정 문화권의 텍스트 형성 문법을 따르고 있음을 논하였다. 그뿐만 아니라 <만언사>는 󰡔조선왕조실록󰡕 순조 10년의 변창감 처벌 사건과 상당히 흡사한데 이 사건이 궁중을 중심으로 회자되다가 여항-시정의 재미있는 이야기 거리가 되고 <만언사> 산출자가 이 소재를 중심에 두고 여항-시정의 공동 담론화 한 사설을 엮어 텍스트를 산출했을 개연성이 높다는 점을 고찰하였다. <만언사>는 실존적이며 역사적인 개인에 의해 진지성을 기반으로 하여 텍스트가 산출된 것이 아니라, 여항-시정 문화권의 텍스트 형성 문법에 따라 대중 독자의 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 것이면서 동시에 유배라는 문맥에 걸맞은 소재들을 선택하되, 작자성을 상실하고 공동 담론화 한 텍스트의 사설들을 엮어 풍부한 읽을거리를 갖춘 대중적 독서물로서 산출된 것이다.
