This is an effort to understand the identities of adolescents raised in the family of international marriage. It tries to compare the identities of them with those of adolescents of Korean family. One hundred fifty seven adolescents are surveyed in order to ask their cognition on Koreaness, their cultural identity as Korean, and self-identity, and the collected data were analyzed by using the statistical techniques such as t-test and regression. As a result, it is find out that there is no statistically significant difference in the awareness of Koreanness between adolescents having the backgrounds of international family and Korean family. However, there is a significant difference between them in cultural identity, and in self-identity. The adolescents of international family have shown the lower degree of cultural identity and self-identity than the adolescents of Korean family. Moreover, it appears that self-identity is influenced by the factor of cultural identity. It is suggested that more efforts for understanding of the formation of the identity of adolescents with international family should be made by the research of quantitative and qualitative methods, and educational consideration for them.

본 연구는 국제결혼가정에서 성장하는 청소년들의 문화정체성을 이해하기 위한 목적으로, 또래의 일반가정 청소년들의 정체성과의 비교 분석을 통하여 국제결혼가정 청소년의 문화정체성의 수준을 밝히고자 하였다. 이 연구를 위하여 중고등학생 연령대의 국제결혼가정과 일반가정 청소년 157명을 대상으로 한국인에 대한 인식, 문화정체성, 자아정체성에 대한 설문조사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하고 t-검정과 회귀분석의 통계기법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 한국인의 특성에 대한 인식에는 두 청소년 집단에 차이가 나타나지 않았지만 한국인에 대한 문화정체성의 영역에서는 두 집단 간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 자아정체성의 영역에서도 두 집단 간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 국제결혼가정 청소년들은 일반가정 청소년들에 비해 문화정체성과 자아정체성이 모두 낮은 수준을 보이고 있었다. 한편, 한국인에 대한 인식 요인은 두 집단 청소년들의 자아정체성 수준에 영향을 미치지 않은 반면, 문화정체성 요인은 자아정체성의 수준에 영향을 미치는 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 통해 국제결혼가정 청소년들의 정체성 형성과정에 대한 보다 많은 이해를 위한 양적, 또는 질적 연구들과 정책적 배려가 있어야 할 것임을 강조하였다.
