This paper studies the participatory behavior of the audience in the audience participative performance by using the concept of performativity. In the audience participative performance, the audience plays the role of participants by intervening the performance by action, and this kind of participation can change the audience from spectators into performers. And the participants’ performative role crossing between the audience and the performer, they actively response to which the artwork requests. Such a process that the participant becomes to intervene into the artwork can be called as the process of understanding and appreciating the artwork. The unpredictable events that brought by this process can create a new meaning and bring new possibility of transformation into the artwork. By researching on Marina Abromavic's “Artist is Present” I would investigate the nature of performative participants, and also analyze the concept of eventuality and embodiment based on Erika Fischer-Lichte's concept of Performative Aesthetics. In addition, I will analyze the participant's aesthetic experience while executing the performance under the concept of performativity borrowing the discussion from the criticism and theory of dramatics to point out that an authentic aesthetic experience can be created from the participants’ performative embodiment.

본 논문은 관객 참여형 퍼포먼스에서 나타나는 관객의 행위를 수행성의 개념을 통해 살펴본다. 관객 참여 형 퍼포먼스에서 관객은 행위적 개입을 통해 참여자로서의 역할하는 동시에 작품의 행위자로 변형된다. 즉 관객과 행위자의 역할을 오가며 작품의 요구에 적극으로 응답한다. 참여자가 관객과 행위자의 역할을 수행하며 작품에 개입되는 것은 작품에 대한 이해와 감상의 과정이라고 할 수 있는데 이 수행적 과정으로 부터 오는 사건성은 작품의 새로운 의미의 창출과 변형의 가능성을 가져온다. 본 논문은 이를 위해 마리 나 아브라모비치의 <예술가는 현존한다(Artist is Present)> 퍼포먼스를 분석하며 수행적 참여자의 특성을 살 펴보며 수행성으로부터 오는 사건성과 체현을 메리카 피셔-리히테의 수행성 미학의 개념의 연장선 상에서 고찰하고자 한다. 또한 관객 참여형 퍼포먼스에서 요구되어지는 참여자의 행위와 행위를 수행함으로부터 오는 미적인 경험을 연극이론과 비평에서 논의되는 수행성의 개념 하에 살펴보며, 참여자의 수행성에서 오는 작품의 체현으로부터의 작품에 대한 진정한 미적 경험이 생성된다고 논한다.
