In this thesis proposed a learning model through using classics reading, starting from the question 'why is classics reading in the university education so important?'. 'Classics' in learning process are important sources of knowledge. And 'Discussion and Presentation' and 'Writing' is a process of social communication. Therefore, students can experience dynamic communication act through learning through classics reading. 'Classics' as a text filled with various knowledge and insight are the source of one's knowledge and ability to think. Students reproduce their own knowledge by reading classics critically according to social context to which they belong. They also find the way to improve refinement and put it into practice through classics. Thus, 'classics' in learning are considered as both the premise and content of learning in this thesis. Students' knowledge got by 'classics' let them communicate with society through 'Discussion and Presentation' and 'Writing'. Students find and solve the problems through 'Discussion and Presentation' and arrange them through 'writing'. Discussion of the 'classics' is constantly going on, but bases of selecting classics and application plan are our assignment which we should study further and make up for. Through this study, it is expected to prepare the base of learning through classics once again.

본 논문에서는 ‘대학교육에서 왜 고전읽기인가’라는 물음에서 ‘고전읽기를 활용한 수업모형’을 제안했다. 학생들은 고전읽기를 활용한 수업을 통해서 역동적인 의사소통행위를 경험할 수 있을 것이다. ‘고전’은 다양한 지식과 혜안이 담긴 텍스트로 지식과 사고력의 원천이다. 학생들은 사회적 맥락에 따라 고전을 비판적으로 읽으면서 지식을 재생산하고, 고전을 통해서 교양을 쌓으며 실천하는 방법을 찾는다. 따라서 수업에서 ‘고전’은 수업의 전제이자 중요한 학습내용이다. 그리고 고전을 통해 얻는 지식은 ‘토론과 발표’, ‘글쓰기’를 통해 사회와 소통할 수 있다. 구체적으로 학생들은 ‘발표와 토론’을 통해서 문제를 발견하고 해결하며, ‘글쓰기’를 통해 문제를 정리하는 과정을 거친다. 이에 본 논문에서는 읽기를 통한 말하기, 글쓰기 과정을 수업모형으로 제안했으며, 읽기를 고전으로 제안하여 지식의 배경으로 두었다. 물론 아직도 고전에 대한 논의는 끊임없이 이어지고 있다. 그러나 고전의 선정 기준과 활용방안은 우리가 앞으로 연구하고 보완해 나가야 할 과제이다. 이번 연구를 통해서 다시 한 번 고전을 활용한 수업의 토대가 마련되기를 바란다.
