This thesis does mainly study on Yi Tongmu's perception of China which is reflected in Ru Yan Ji. Whether in form or content, Ru Yan Ji brings with characteristics distinguished from other Yonhaengnoks of northern Korean learning school. From the form, the entire Ru Yan Ji took the form of a diary recording. Meanwhile Ru Yan Ji did not touch on Qing Dynasty culture which was commonly concerned by northern Korean learning school writers. In addition, Yi Tongmu communicated with many Chinese literatus in the way of sketchs and notes but did few records about relevant details. From the content, compared to other northern Korean learning school literatus, Yi Tongmu more concerned about books of Qing Dynasty and did detailed record of the information and knowledge about books. The perception of Chinese was reflected in the relatively highly praise of Han people's words and deeds and the relatively negative evaluation of Qing Dynasty. The above shows that Yi Tongmu's perception of China had the characteristics distinguished from other northern Korean learning school literatus who commonly did positive evaluation of Qing Dynasty. It is an undeniable fact that Yi Tongmu had connections with northern Korean learning school literatus, so for a long time, Yi Tongmu has always been recognized as one of the northern Korean learning school literatus. However, as mentioned above, Li Tongmu's perception of China reflected in Ru Yan Ji, compared with other northern Korean learning school literatus' had obvious differences. From this perspective, whether Yi Tongmu should really be classified as northern Korean learning school is also an issue which needs to rethink.

본고에서는 李德懋의 『入燕記』를 중심으로 이에 나타난 이덕무의 중국인식에 대해 살펴보았다. 『입연기』는 형식과 내용면에서 여타의 북학파 연행록과 구별이 되는 자기의 독특한 특색을 띠고 있는 것이다. 형식적인 면에서도 일기체를 띠고 있을 뿐만 아니라 북학파 지식인들이 공통적 관심사인 청나라 문물에 대해서도 별로 다루지 않았다. 또한 많은 중국의 문사들과 필담을 통해 교유를 했지만 그 기록은 별로 없었다. 내용적인 면에서도 이덕무는 북학파 지식인들보다 중국의 서책에 관해 깊은 관 심을 갖고 이에 대한 새로운 정보와 지식을 상세하게 밝히고 있다. 중국인에 대한 인식에서도 중국의 한족에 대해서는 그 언행에 대해서 높이 평가하면서도 청나라 통치에 대해서는 강한 부정적인 감정을 갖고 있음을 보여준다. 이런 면으로 볼 때 이덕무의 중국에 대한 인식은 기타 북학자들이 청을 긍정적으로 바라보는 것과 구분되는 특징 이라고 할 수 있다. 이덕무는 북학파 문인들과 밀접한 관계가 있는 인물인 것은 사실이다. 그래서 북 학파 일원으로 함께 묶어 살펴온 것 또한 분명한 사실이다. 하지만 이상에서 제시 한 것처럼 『입연기』에 나타난 이덕무의 중국인식은 여타 북학파지식인들의 인식과 분명히 다르다. 따라서 이덕무가 진정한 북학파인지도 재고의 여지가 있다.
