This study started from the concern on how theological values of W.C.C affect the reestablishment of spirituality, ethic, leadership and ecclesiology of Korean churches. To accomplish this task, a detailed analysis of W.C.C's theological statements organized under the concern for 'unity' will be first done, then, it will be transferred into the second task about the future of Korean churches derived from the previous process. For the efficient engagement of two different objectives, I will try to turn theological meanings such as the foundational spirit and the existential goal of W.C.C to another dimension of leadership and spirituality and this process will be destined to the analyses of the present and future of Korean churches. This process as a whole is abased on the confidence that the currently distorted situation of Korean churches can be fixed only through a theologically objective verification procedure on W.C.C. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify that this study tries to avoid taking one's side between two conflicting groups in the debate of W.C.C. I wish that this study will contribute to the a creative acceptance of diverse elements within Korean society based on Korean churches' great theological perspective and that it will be combined to the development of Korean churches and the mission of healing for Korea's social diseases.

본 논문은 세계교회협의회(The World Council of Churches) 제10회 부산총회를 앞두고 발생한 한국교회의 뜨거운 논쟁과 대립을 목도하면서, 과연 그들이 제시하는 신학적 가치가 한국교회의 리더십과 영성, 그리고 교회론의 재정립에 미치는 영향이 무엇인지에 대한 관심으로부터 시작되었다. 이 관심을 구체적으로 진행하기 위해서 세계교회협의회의 핵심적 신학가치인 ‘연합’(Unity)에 주목하고, 그것을 기점으로 형성된 신학적 명제들의 세부내용 이해에 집중했다. 그 후에 그런 신학적 명제들을 최근 리더십 유형의 변화와 비교하여 상호 유사점들을 도출하는 작업을 진행했으며, 그것이 부산총회를 앞둔 한국교회의 대립과 혼란을 극복하고 미래지향적인 목회 리더십 형성으로 이어질 수 있는 가능성을 타진했다. 이 두 가지의 과제들을 효율적으로 연결하기 위해서 기독교 리더십에 영성의 차원을 부가하였으며, 그를 통해 세속 단체나 사회의 리더십과 구별되는 기독교 리더십의 특성을 구체적으로 전망하려고 노력했다. 위와 같은 일련의 과정은 세계교회협의회 문제로 인해 야기된 한국교회의 대립을 풀기 위해서 실천신학적 판단과 상징이론의 결합된 인식과정이 선행되어야한다는 신념에 근거한다. 또한 그런 신학적 판단이 추상적인 이론의 영역에 머물지 않고 리더십과 영성이라는 매개체를 통해 역사적 맥락을 염두에 둔 지평의 확장으로 이어져야 한다는 시각을 전제한다. 따라서 본고는 부산총회를 바라보는 양극단의 입장과 관련하여, 가능한 중립적 위치에서 공정한 평가와 진단을 내리려고 노력했음을 주지한다. 아울러 본 연구가 한국교회의 성숙한 신학적 안목을 바탕으로 한국 사회의 다양한 요소들을 창조적으로 수용하여, 한국교회의 목회리더십의 발전과 사회적 병리현상들을 치유하는 영적 사명으로 연결되기를 기대한다.
