The purpose of this study was to analyze the clothing behaviors of school-aged students using research published in journals about clothing & textiles, human ecology and practical arts education. Fourteen journals published between 1991 and 2012 were analyzed: Journal of Korean Society of Clothing & Textiles, Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, The Research Journal of the Costume Culture, Fashion Business, Fashion & Textile Research Journal, Journal of the Korea Fashion & Costume Design Association, Journal of The Korean Society of Fashion Design, Journal of Korean Traditional Costume, Journal of the Korean Home Economics Association, Korean Journal of Human Ecology, Korean Journal of Rural Living Science, Journal of Korean Home Economics Education Association, Journal of Korean Practical Arts Education published by Korean Association of Practical Arts Education, and Journal of Korean Practical Arts Education published by The Society of Korean Practical Arts Education. A total of 197 journal articles were categorized and analyzed. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the number of papers published from 2001 to 2010 was almost three times greater than the number published from 1991 to 2000. The most popular subject area was clothing construction, followed by clothing & textile education, and the social/psychological aspects of clothing. Second, surveys were the most commonly employed research method in studying the clothing behaviors of school-aged students, followed by experimentation. In terms of research area, one-third of research was conducted in Yeungnam, followed by the Seoul metropolitan area. Third, the data for clothing construction studies were gathered from children, whereas the data for merchandising studies were gathered from the mothers of children. Students in their senior year of elementary school were researched more than students in their junior year of elementary school.

본 연구는 의류학, 가정학, 실과교육 관련 학술지에 게재된 학령기 아동의 의생활에 관한 연구 동향을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 1991년부터 2012년까지 14개 학술지 (한국의류학회지, 복식, 복식문화연구, 의류산업학회지, 패션비즈니스, 한국의상디자인학 회지, 한국패션디자인학회지, 한복문화, 대한가정학회지, 한국생활과학회지, 한국지역사 회생활과학회지, 한국가정과교육학회지, 한국실과교육학회지, 실과교육연구)에 게재된 학령기 아동의 의생활 연구 197개를 추출하여 분석하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연도와 학술지별 게재 빈도를 고찰한 결과, 1990년대에 비하여 2000년대 이후 학령기 아동의 의생활 연구가 약 3배 가량 증가하였으며, 한국실과교육학회지, 한국의 류학회지 순으로 게재 편수가 많았다. 의류학의 하위 영역 중 의복구성학 관련 연구가 가장 많았으며, 그 다음은 의생활교육, 의상사회심리 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구방법으로는 설문지법과 실험법이 많았고, 연구지역은 영남지역과 수도권 의 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구대상은 분야에 따라 차이가 있었는데, 의복구성학은 아동을 여아와 남아 로 구분하여 계측한 연구가 많았고, 의생활교육은 아동을 직접 연구한 경우가 많았으 며, 의류상품학 영역은 아동보다 어머니를 조사한 논문이 많았다. 또한, 저학년보다 고 학년을 대상으로 진행된 연구가 많은 것으로 나타났다.
