School counselors need to keep themselves healthy and fully alive to be effective in helping students' growth and problem solving. The previous research studies indicate that spirituality is regarded as a core part for maximum human's health and wellbeing, beyond phisical, emotional, and social dimensions, and spirituality can have an important influence on human health. Therefore, this study acknowledged the importance of spiritual wellness for school counselor's health, and aimed to explore educational implications for their spiritual wellness. For this objective, this study reviewed the previous research studies of spirituality and in perspective of Jung's and Frankl's counseling theories which consider spirituality or spiritual wellness as an essential component. The results of this study suggested that pre-service and in-service educational programs are needed to be appropriate for life or career developmental stage of school counselors, to accomplish individuation by integrating spiritual self into their consciousness, and to search the meaning of the life events in school context as well as daily personal lives in order to enhance spiritual wellness of school counselors. It was suggested that these programs need to be developed, based on the systematic procedures of program development. Previous research studies conducted regarding spirituality or spiritual wellness were discussed and further studies were suggested.

학교상담자가 학생들에게 유능하고 효과적인 학교상담 활동을 전개해 나가기 위해서는 자신이 먼저 건강하고 활기찬 생활을 유지할 필요가 있다. 영성과 영적 안녕에 관한 선행 연구들은 인간의 최적의 건강과 안녕의 상태는 신체적, 정서적, 사회적 차원을 넘어 영적인 차원까지 포함되어야 하고, 영성이 건강과 행동에 기여한다는 것을 보여준다. 이에 본 연구는 학교상담자들이 최적의 건강을 유지하는 데 있어서 영적 안녕의 중요성을 인식하고, 이들의 영적 안녕 증진을 위한 시사점을 찾는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해, 먼저 그동안 주목받지 못했지만 최근 증가 추세에 있는 영성 관련 연구들을 개관하고, 다음으로 영성 및 영적 차원을 중요하게 다루는 두 가지 상담이론(Jung의 분석심리치료와 Frankl의 의미치료)을 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 본 연구에서는 학교상담자의 영적 안녕 증진을 위한 교육 연수 프로그램이 이들의 경력발달 단계를 고려하여 적합하게 개발되고, 영적인 자기를 자신의 의식 속에 통합시켜 개성화를 실현하고, 학교 업무와 일상적인 생활에서 겪게 되는 것들의 의미를 찾도록 도울 수 있는 내용으로 체계적인 프로그램 개발 절차에 따라 구안되고 실시되어야 할 것을 제안했다. 끝으로, 학교상담자의 영적 안녕을 위한 교육적 시사점을 탐색하고 후속되어야 할 연구를 제안하였다.
