『Reading and Grammar ⅠⅡ』according to 2009 revised curriculum has its meaning for the learners to learn integrated curriculum for the first time. However, as it was made without sufficient researches on the integration of current Korean education field, it is inevitable to have problem or insufficiency. As a result of reviewing the integration aspect in the critical perspective with 4 kinds of textbook used in the field as subject, ‘a problem of paratactic arrangement’ of sections shown in unit structure and learning objectives was observed. In content, ‘content fidelity’ was low as it did not cover one section and learning factor of standard of accomplishment due to imbalanced integration. Thus, it is inevitable to have question on the efficiency compared to when the learners study independent section separately. Recognizing the limitation of current curriculum, this study is to propose improvement method to find out desirable integration in terms of objective, content and activity. First, recognizing the importance of leaning objective, each denouement should propose integrated learning objective. Second, chemical integration should be made between contents our of parallel arrangement shown in 『Reading and Grammar ⅠⅡ』, in other word, physical integration. Therefore, it is important to secure organic linkage between contents of each section. Further, it would be more effective when amalgamative configuration which each section interacts in small unit. Third, various integrated learning activities should be prepared. Seeking various integrated learning activities to positively reconfigure it and review learners’s own knowledge by themselves would lead to effective learning of integrated curriculum. Likewise, when many researches are performed to realized integration value in the textbook while seeking various methods for integration of sections, they would make a foothold to improve the newly proposed textbook.

2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 『독서와 문법 ⅠⅡ』는 학습자에게 처음으로 통합교과를 배울 수 있도록 하는데 그 의의가 높다. 그러나 현행 국어교육 계에서 통합에 대한 연구도 부족한 실정에서 처음으로 만들어진 교과서이 기 때문에 문제나 미흡한 점이 드러날 수밖에 없다. 실제 현장에서 사용되 고 있는 4종의 교과서를 연구대상으로 하여 통합양상을 비판적인 시각에서 검토한 결과 단원 구성 및 학습목표에 나타난 영역간의 ‘병렬적 나열의 문 제’를 보였다. 내용면에서는 불균형한 통합양상으로 단원 내에서 한 영역의 학습이 미흡하게 다루어지거나 성취기준의 학습요소가 충실하게 다루어지 지 않아 ‘내용의 충실성’에서 낮은 모습을 보이고 있다. 이는 학습자들로 하여금 독립영역을 따로 학습하는 했을 때 보다 효율성이 있는지 의문을 가질 수밖에 없을 것이다. 그리하여 필자는 이와 같은 현행 교과의 한계를 인식하고 바람직한 통합 을 모색하기 위한 개선 방안으로 목표, 내용, 활동 면으로 나누어 그 방법 을 제시하였다. 먼저 학습목표의 중요성을 인식하고 각 대단원에 통합 학습목표를 제시 해야 한다고 보았다. 둘째, 내용면에서는 『독서와 문법 ⅠⅡ』에서 나타난 병렬적 나열, 즉 물리적 통합에서 벗어나 내용 간에 화학적 통합이 이루어 져야 한다고 보았다. 그러기 위해서는 먼저 각 영역의 내용간의 유기적인 연계성을 확보하는 일이 중요하며 나아가 단원 구성에서도 각 영역이 소단 원 내에서 상호작용할 수 있는 융합적인 구성을 했을 때 더욱 효과적일 것이다. 세 번째로 다양한 통합학습활동이 마련되어야 할 것이다. 학습자 스 스로 지식을 점검하고 능동적으로 재구성하는 차원에서의 다양한 통합학습 활동이 이루어질 수 있도록 모색하는 것은 통합교과로서의 효율적인 학습 을 도모하는데 도움이 될 것이라 보았다. 이처럼 영역 간의 통합에 대한 다양한 방법의 모색과 더불어 교과서 안 에서 통합의 가치를 구현할 수 있는 많은 연구들이 이루어졌을 때, 앞으로 새롭게 제시될 교과서가 좀 더 개선될 수 있는 발판을 마련하게 될 것이다.
