From the long time, there has been lots of academic and cultural communication between Korea and China related with Filial Piety(Hyo in Korean, Ziao in Chinese). The two countries have same origin of Hyo thought historically. The meaning of Hyo has been maintained till now, but the practicing Hyo is challenged by the rapid change of modern society. As the traditional Hyo is weakening, Korea and China are searching for its own resolution. In order to widen mutual understanding and activate communication about Hyo, in this paper 1) I introduce ‘Law on Hyo Encouragement and Support’ as a representative case of the current Korean Hyo movement, and 2) I draw so called ‘Korean Hyo complex system model’. As common themes for communication between both countries, I propose 3) the harmonization between traditional Hyo and modern Hyo, and 4) the study on Hyo obligation and Hyo education. Korean moral education is the best in the world, and China has the most abundant materials related with Hyo. If both countries unify and use these advantages through active communication, the synergetic effect can be created in maximum. In this respect, I suggest to organize so called ‘Korean-Chinese society for filial piety research’, and make an opportunity for academic and cultural communication regularly for long.

예로부터 동양문화권에 속한 한국과 중국 간에는 효(filial piety)와 관련된 학문적, 문화적 교류가 있어 왔다. 그래서 가정이나 사회에서 지켜야 할 효제에 관한 사상적 근원에는 유 사성이 많다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 효의 의미는 오늘날에도 유지되고 있긴 하지만, 급속한 현대사회의 변화와 더불어, 효를 실천하는 방식은 많은 변화를 겪고 있다. 오늘날 전통적 효의 실천이 많이 약화되고 있고, 그래서 한국과 중국은 이러한 변화에 대처하기 위해 나름대로 효 운동을 전개하고 있다. 본 연구는 효와 관련된 양국 간의 상호 이해와 교류의 증진이 필요함을 전제하고, 이를 위한 사전 단계로서 한국의 효 운동 현황을 소개하기 위 해 먼저 1)현재 한국이 추진하고 있는 효 운동의 대표적 사례인 ‘효행 장려 및 지원에 관 한 법률’의 주요 내용을 밝히고, 2)이것에 토대해서 논자가 고안한 ‘한국의 효행 복합체계’ 모델을 제시하였다. 그리고 한국과 중국 간에 필요한 공통 담론의 주제로서, 3)전통적 효 와 현대적 효의 조화, 4)효 의무와 효 교육의 공동 연구를 제안하였다.
