This paper aims at describing the translation mode generating in media-oriented and internet based digital era of the 21st century. TV dramas, one of the major contents of the Korean Wave can be spotted in the internet community with language conversion by non-professional subtitlers, and shared by the world-wide audience, immediately after their real time showing. To deal with this global phenomenon, this paper reviews the essential features of the dramas and the drama translation, dubbing and subtitling as for audio-visual translations, and fan subtitling as for the communication on the internet community. Fan subtitling, as a language facilitator, is unique and necessary to overcome the language barrier and to promote the Korean dramas to the global viewers. This paper examines the linguistic and socio-cultural transfer of fan subtitling, and concludes that subtitling is one of the various semiotic resources incorporated in the dramas, but plays a crucial role in completing messages supported by images.
